line stats from the smart installation at home
Bandwidth [kbps/kbps]: 867 / 18,551
Output Power[dBm]: 12.5 / 0.0
Line Attenuation[dB]: 10.0 / 28.0
SN Margin[dB]: 9.0 / 9.5
We're in Donnybrook.

I've been told that eircom have setup the second line so just waiting on smart to process my order for that line.
Sorry fellas,

A bit of a n00b question for you:

How do I check my line stats (probably in the Thompson Modem Utility?) and how do I interpret the results? I'm trying to identify how good/bad my Smart broadband is.

Thank you in advance!

Guys,

Not impressed with the experience so far. Been waiting 3 weeks for this with zero input on an exact installation date.
Having a system in place that says you cant even contact eircom until the SLA date is reached is not only frustrating for the CSR repeating it over and over, but extremely frustrating for the customer.
An exact date shouldnt be too much to ask, you try organising a wedding overseas without a skype phone :P
For anyone waiting on getting this connected dont expect a seamless transfer.

Same boat here.
Ordered 5th, received modem 13th, DD set up (apparently) but nothing since.
I rang last week and was told I'd be live by Friday 22nd...nothing.:(

Kaizer, I hate to say anything because now I look like a tard for complaining, but I just got my text now. Apparently I am now live.

If your live date was the 22nd then its now past eircoms SLA, call Smart and get them to find out whats going on.

Nice one Jumpy...no such luck for me though.
The 22nd didn't sound like a definate date. More like 'you should be live by Friday' sort of thing.
Have to call again tomorrow.

Hi Kaizersoze,

Where do you find these "lines stats"? I'd like to check mine but I don't know how to go about it... :o

Hi Kaizersoze,

Log into the modem http://192.168.1.1
On the left menu click Broadband Connection then DSL Connection
At the top of the screen click Details

Try this link. It should take you there directly.
http://192.168.1.1/cgi/b/dsl/dt/?be=0&l0=1&l1=0

Just another update on my situation.
I've been moved to ADSL2+ gear and upgraded to 12 meg, but I'm still with BT.

hah, forgot about this thread!

so yeah, after missing the eircom engi while I was away, he turned up again 2 weeks later.

I had to wait till i got home last week to ring smart to get the order confirmed. I had already gone thru the 3rd party stuff before I left so the phone call last tues was to sort my order!!

by thurs my line was on smart...on sat a courier arrived with the modem :)

had to use a hacked linksys box on the line which is still connected today...been too busy connect up the smart modem.

will do it later and throw up line stats etc.

Dont worry, you are not with BT anymore, you are just using their backbone as your username is still active. They will cancel it (in theory) sooner or later. You better get your Smart username ready by then otherwise you will be left without bb!

Yeah I know the score alright. Just making the point that even after 1 month the transfer still isn't complete. Didn't receive any username/password from them yet either.
