Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He used Carvalho from Portugal instead.

He used Carvalho from Portugal instead.

yeah I know, but surely you can find a better replacement for Carvalho so as to include Ronaldo

    Buffon(Italy)

    Alves(Brazil) Vidic(Serbia) Lahm(Germany)

    Essien (Ghana)

    Messi(Argentina) Fabregas(Spain) Gerrard (England) Ronaldo(Portugal)

    Arshavin(Russia)

    Eto'o(Cameroon)

My only difficulty was whether to put Ribery or Arshavin in the supporting striker role.

    Cassilas (Spain)

    Sagna (France)
    Vidic (Serbia)--Nesta (Italy)
    Lahm (Germany)

    Gerrard (England)--Essien (Ghana)

    Ronaldo (Portugal)
    Kaka (Brazil)
    Messi (Argentina)

    Ibrahimovic (Sweden)

Mmm, thought this was tough. I think Ramos, Maicon and Alves are better options for right back, Mascherano a worthy inclusion for a defensive midfielder role, and the likes of Ribery, Torres and Carvalho all close to being selected.

In the end, I settled for selecting the best 9 players in the world at the moment (and tacked on Sagna and Ibrahimovic at the end out of necessity). Gerrard in a defensive role would be a slight concern in that it isn't his best position, but his athleticism would be an asset in covering for Ronaldo and in a side like this, you just need to include his directness.

People will also disagree with Ibrahimovic. Simply put, I think Cassilas in this team is worth more than Torres. Yes, Ibrahimovic is flighty, inconsistent and a bit of a twat (:)). But at his best, he is as close as you'll get to Fernando at the moment. And I would hope that he would be at his best in this lineup.

Would be exciting to watch. But playing a center half and two fullbacks at the back is going to murder you defensively.

Nesta and Cannavaro should just not be being picked ahead of Chiellini

    Kameni

    Alves - Carvalho - Chiellini - Lahm

    Messi - Essien - Gerrard - Ribery

    ----David Villa - Samuel Eto'o

That was way tougher than I thought it would be
