Them 'mistaken' Orange ads could be explained by their becoming an MVNO in Ireland on the 3 Network......and by extension on the Voda network when they fall back to 2G. 3 must support MVNO operations and hopefully DMSP ones too :):)

Have a look at the easymobile.ie page Here and the easymobile plans Here

3 doesn't seem to be iminent let alone MVNOs on the 3 network! Plus I am not sure that the agreement with Voda does include any MVNO traffic, but really dont know for sure.

I was told before by someone close to Orange that they were looking at becoming a MVNO in Ireland. It would be a marked departure from their current strategy that includes network ownership.

Telmore have bought the "Easy Mobile" brand for Ireland but have yet to get any final deal with any network in Europe to be a MVNO.

Between Orange, Telmore/Easy Mobile, Eircom and Virgin (who are also said to be interested in Ireland) it probably won't be long before Ireland gets its first MVNO in years.

Telmore are the Ryanair of MVNO 's they are a DMSP (D=Discounted) . That'll put the cat among the pigeons in Ireland n no time at all :) . Telmore have cause such havoc in Denmark with their 10c flat rate Voice and 3c Txt messages that the introduction of MVNO activity in a country is known in the Boardrooms of the likes of O2 and Voda as "Going Danish" . Denmark has almost 20 DMSP 's .

The recent Comreg decision that O2 and Voda have Significant Market Power is the first step to forcing them to cater for a wholesale clientele, that means MVNO's and their Discount Siblings like Telmore are a possibility on their Networks. Only Meteor 2g will be immune from opening up their network.

There is one final 3g B Licence sitting on the shelf in Comreg...should anyone want it.

Finally there will be some deregulation of short range devices in the 1800Mhz GSM spectrum as the guard bands are shrunk....also next year.
