Can you put two dimmers on a two way light. Eg in a hallway can u have dimmers on both switches at each end of the hall?
    Thanks in advance for replies

Just trying to remember some inter junior cert physics.

If the dimmer is a resistor, then the device under load will suck juice from whereever it can get it easierst. So the dimmer on the brightest setting will supply. If you lower dimmer A (downstairs) to be less bright than dimmer B (upstairs) then the light will just suck the juice form the upstairs one.

So, in theory you can use two, but if you leave the upstairs one on the brightest setting, lowering the downstairs one won't have any impact.

    In theory.

No. Just put 1 dimmer at one end. Otherwise the light will always be a bit on.
If the dimmer is a resistor
It is not, although it does behave a bit like one. I see what you are saying oneway, but it would not be normal to do this.

Varilight do a range of touch dimmers (saw them in B&Q a while back so should be easily available)

You can buy a master switch and a slave switch to achieve what you need to do. (see the link below for details of operation)

dimmer at one end as already said.2-way dimmer
can be a nuisance if there's a big distance between switches

Why would it be a nuisance if big distance between switches?

Because you can only dim at one end.
