Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ok so i recently dug out my old A700 after not using it for years. Decided to get back into photography a bit.

Anyway im not interested in buying a new camera just yet but i would like some extra zoom. Currently the a700 gives 6x optical and 6 megapixel which is pretty decent.

Im not sure what the advantages and disadvantages are of using telephoto lenses. Can someone enlighten me.

This ebay item has a 2.0x converter

I also noticed that it says in the description that it " decreases the intensity of the light reaching the sensor by the factor of 4 as well as the resolution (by the factor of 2)."

Do all lenses have this downside?

most cheap lens do... more zoom usually means less light.

the converter will be 'alright' if stuff is well lit, but anything remotely dark... the convertor will start killing you that way. x6 zoom is huge tbh, cant see why you would need more unless your a peeping tom :D

dammit ive been found out. haha.

nah just looking for something different.

ok so it cuts out the light which is fair enough but why would it reduce the resolution.

nope still hitting the same sensor, might get some vingetting, a kinda black halo around the image from light fall off, but image quality will be effected...
