    Hey Folks,
I'm planning on sending my 9 month old westie x to Dog Training Ireland's Doggie Day Care 2 days a week. Tuesday and Thursday.

Currently he is home alone while I'm at work.

I'm looking for feed back or reviews you would have from sending your dog there.

    Thank You!!

Did dog obidience classes there and found good. Prices for day care seem reasonable too. Better for dog to be in good day care than home alone.

Doggie day care is not just great for your dogs happiness but also gets them socialised with other doggies! Please let us know how you get on! Any pictures of your fella?

my lad (18 month old lab) has been going since it started up .. two or three days a week.

We used it initally as my wife was due a baby in Feb and really couldn't manage the dog during the day .. but since then it is all about the dog!!

His personality has changed for the better, he loves it!! he now is so much better behaved especially around other dogs, gets great exercise and all round is a healthier happy boy !!

I usually take him out for at least and hour and half every evening when I get home, the days he is in DDC if i even show him the lead he sneaks off to another room as he is just shattered!!

I also fell it is safer to have your dog being watch by trained people during the day rather than being left to their own devises in your back garden unattended for hours !! my lad ate a plastic flower pot last summer and the first we knew of it was when he was trying to pass the remains .. screams and yelps and a very quick run to the vets we were very lucky!!

here is a clip of my Sammy (black lab) playing with a few of his friends during the day care!!

Some people say that day care and dog parks are bad as when dogs are in groups they try to establish pecking order and dominance and this can lead to aggression and fighting which can psychologically damage a dog.

So would you advocate never mixing dogs? This has the effect of them being unsocialised. I haven't used this particular doggie day care facility, but knowing who its run by, I'd say it is very beneficial for the dogs that go there. They are professionals and wouldn't mix dogs that are aggressive I'm sure.

Any agressive dogs are not welcomed at the DDC. My fella did show some signs of agression pre-nutering and had to stay away for a few weeks.

As with any group there will be pecking orders, but from personal experience I have found that my dog it much better behaved when mixed with my parents dog and when out and about in the fields when he meets other dogs.

They are pretty well resourced in DTI and have plenty of people on hand to supervise the facility. It is not a case of throwing dogs in to a pen and letting them fight it out.

There is a small element of training involved during the day, especially around manners and basic obdience.

It might sound like I have an interest in DTI or Doggie Day Care, but my only interest is that my dog was one of the first to use the facility to help myself and my wife out at a particular point in time and now we view it as part of our dogs social life!! as sad as it sounds!!
