Hi! I am looking for a relatively easy to use digital camera that will be good for both taking images of buildings - so a wide angle lens - and also for taking images of smaller details - i.e. pictures on old letters in archives. I have about €500-€600 to spend. It's for architectural history research, and I just don't have a clue about where to begin looking, or what to look for! Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You'll just about buy a wide angle lens for €500 so its a point & shoot or
up ur budget a few hundred and buy the cheapest canon slr body you can find ( maybe a eos 350-400d if still around ) along with either the canon 10-22mm wide lens or a sigma/tamron equivelant.
then buy a canon 50mm f1.8 lens. they're cheap and good. say about €100.

that would have you well setup for what you are after.

or look in photography ireland forum for second hand gear.
