Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was thinking about this option for a while as i can see some definite advantages but one thing struck me recently and was wondering if anyone here has come across this. How do you stop the cold bridge at window sill. are there any details of this online as i do not see how it can be done effectively using stone or concrete sills.

Advice is to cut them off and move the window forward of the existing wall face so the window is located in the insulation zone . Cill is then weathered be a pressed metal cill .

Figure 3B almost shows this - the detail there would improve if the window frame was moved outward

Page 43 of this pdf (note the page no. on the actual page is 33)

There is a photo which shows how this is done. In this case they simply created a cill using the EWI. However, it's more common to use a metal cill as sinnerboy suggested.

The only thing I've seen differently to this detail is that a timber batten is fixed to the wall beneath the opening to take the weight of the window and L brackets are used at the sides and the top. In this case they used the brackets underneath aswell which I've been told is risky due to the weight of the triple glazed windows.

I was thinking it could not be done properly with a conc or stone cill.
