Right here's da story, me n my partner are thinking of startin up a little farmers market at our house this year. We're growing lots of veg and herbs to sell on site and I'll also be doing a range of chutney type things. We're looking for growers, cooks, crafts people or anyone interested in starting up a rural farmers market in a beautiful location!

Also if it all goes ahead in the end, we would also like to encourage ppl to barter their goods with one another, this'd be a great way to get talking and make friends, it'd also mean that even if yer broke yoiu could still come along and just bring whatever excess fruit, veg, jam or whatever you happen to have yourself without bringing money into the equation without commiting to having to kit out a whole stall!

sounds good, did you know there are 2 farmers market already if you were interested. One is in mallow on fridays in 4homes car park on the park road though when i went there was only 4 stalls.
And the other is in Kanturk on thursdays and saturdays in the supervalue carpark which im yet to go to.

id like to grow my own veggies,i will have to wait til next year though the garden is a wreck. But id buy farmers market veg :)

ya I've been to those alright they're pretty dull ones though! :pac:
The idea we have for ours is that it would be more focused on ppl who aren't actually in a position to make a big commitment to making a business out of selling but rather to allow people who may only have 1 or a few things to offer to still come along and swap or sell whatever it is they have. Even if it's just firewood, eggs, a bit of veg, old books or whatever.
I think it's a pity how farmers markets are going now, they're expensive and almost elitist. this way of doing it would open it up to normal people and even if you're broke it'd still be worth coming along. for us it'd be more about strengthening the cmmunity and socialising than making money.
