Maps for the N95

I have a Nokia N95 8GB which I use for lots of different stuff. I'm off to South East Asia for a month next week, and among other things, would like to use the GPS while I'm over there. (I'm not interested in paying a fortune in roaming fees when I'm there so will make sure the data link bit is turned off.)

Can anyone tell me how to fill her up with maps for the countries I'm going to before I leave? Are there any third party GPS apps that I can get for free that'll give me good navigation, etc?

GPS in Asia? That's high speed data = VERY large bill.

you should also be able to get a trial of the turn by turn navigation voices for a week or maybe 2 for the n95

worked great for me last week in the US, somebody also said to me if you set the date back to the trial date it will still work, but not sure if that has been fixed by nokia

Trust seany and check out ipmart forum, will require a little reading but it's worth it.

forget about nokia maps- google maps are the way to go. I just DL onto my N95 8GB & it works a treat.

Doesn't Google maps use a data connection though?

As for the high speed data bill, I thought if I just use the GPS function and not the connection bit it won't charge me anything, i.e. just use the phone as a standalone GPS unit.

Don't use google maps. It uses data connection.

There's various third party applications available. As the lads above said i use nokia map loader and stack it up. Handy enough.

I use garmin mob on a symbian phone, I bought it from garmin, but heard there are other ways to downlod..
