Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well, the good news it's connecting so it's not an issue with the wireless just a configuration problem on either the lappy or the router.

    There's a few possibilities:

First off I'd check the router to see if DHCP is turned on. If not you will have to assign a manual address on your laptop (or switch it on).

Secondly I'd check thr router to see what security is running (WEP\WPA\WPA2) etc. Also make sure MAC filtering is not on either and if it is you will need to enter the MAC address of your wireless network card.

To get all of that MAC address crap you just click Start>Run> type CMD. When the DOS prompt box appers type ipconfig /all

If you wouldn't mind for those who are going to help you right click the screen click mark drag the white box over everything and then hit enter. Then paste the info into a post here so people can diagnose the problem.

These are pobably the most common problems that cause you not to connect. There are other things you can try but give them a bash first.

This would be best moved to Wireless.

If you have encryption turned on your router then for the setup remove it and see if you can get online then, remembering to restore the encryption afterwards.

Having the encryption on while trouble shooting is like trying to work blind, you are never sure weither its the encryption or some other error preventing the connection.

thanks Layke, but most of that made no sense to me :(

ill copy all of whats happening tomorrow and post them thanks.

i may also mention that everything in its current setup was working untill i formatted the laptop with a copy of windows.

i found then i had to upgrade the wireless drivers, which worked and picked up the wireless networks and as i said, seemed to connect, but just wouldnt netwise.

also, i tried to repair the connection but it was trying to repair for about half an hour to no avail, maybe i should leave it longer?

either way, ill copy it all tomorrow, thanks
