Just expose yourself to some Ulster Irish speakers for a while and it'll be grand. Two of the girls in my house in Irish college were from Donegal so I got fairly used to it... <3 téip.

A bit late for going to Irish college maybe, but not exactly too late to listen to the CD, and get used to it that way?! They're sort of repetitive anyway, from what I remember from doing them last year...

I was talking about Irish College.

Might stop watching TV in English, TG4 & TV5 FTW

So much hate for the Donegal Irish speaker :D:(

There's a girl from the Donegal Gaeltacht who regularly reports for Nuacht TG4 for anyone wishing to further appreciate the accent that (I'm fairly certain) was voted the sexiest in the world. ;)

Any ideas on what poems are gonna come up? And what ones wont come up?

Same Q with the prose really... :pac:

    Nice one :D

[condescending] Awhh, sweeeeetie, how cute. I think there's a slight chance they just might have been, dear. [/condescending].

Seriously though, just to get this straight, your plan for Honours irish is to just write out a bunch of summaries for everything in the hope that somehow you'll actually get a C3? Best of luck. You might seriously need it.

"What traits of a béaloidis are found in An Cearrbhach Mac Cábá?"
This is a short story where some guy gambles loads and stuff, c3 please.

Jaysus, way to make the girl feel stupid...

She'd defo get a C3 if she did a decent aural, oral and paper 1 regardless of how good/bad she answered her poetry wouldn't she? Like, it's 55% afterall...

Then again, she mightn't do a good aural, oral or paper 1...

Did she not mean summary notes??
Summary notes that if you learn off will trigger the answer in your head?

No, she was suggesting that if you write out the summaries, regardless of what the question being asked actually is, you'll get an automatic C3:
;60141579]when you do the summary for the poems its an automatic c3 regardless of what the question was asking you.
so plz if any1 has the translations i would be very greatful.
Which, for the record, I would not bank on ;)

I see, yeah can tell where yer comin from. Its kinda possible as someone said before if they did a good aural and oral and a good essay, they can, but youd be banking on a brilliant mark in em all.

My apologies, I didnt see your question for some reason.

Ehm, for the Dánta Dualgais Breise, I'm gona have An Mháithair and Dá mbF'heidir Arís D'ar gCumann learnt off well. Those two have never come up.

As for the Regular Poetry, well Ive been hearing that one of the classical ones is gona come up, seeing as Uirchill a' Chreagain is on the Dugais Breise, Id learn that with Bímse Buan ar Buairt Gach Ló.

Cant say much for Prós cept that Clare sa Spéir came up massively in it last year, I think and that would make it less likely for it to come up this year.

    Anyone else have anything?

An Chéad Dráma has been included in a lot of people's predictions. It hasn't come up in a good while now. Jack and Gealt regularly come up in the other section so definitely have a look over them.

Prós: Our teacher's recommending we focus on An Cearrbahch macCába and an bhean óg, simply because they didn't appear last yr....

im tryin to get @ least a c3 and a person i know who corrects the irish papers every year says when you do the summary for the poems its an automatic c3 regardless of what the question was asking you.
so plz if any1 has the translations i would be very greatful.
also does any1 know wats comin up for an stair???
Guys you were all pretty quick to jump the gun with lady clouds ach ta an ceart aici!! I did the LC last year and got an A1...I do believe if you take the poem and go through it sentence by sentence describing what the poet is saying, and how you feel and basically what is going on in the poem, you are covering every question that could possibly be asked and will more than likely get a C3 at least! Although a good grip of the language is required!!

Go raibh míle maith agat lads!

So, dya reckon I'll be okay just learning:

Prós: "An Cearrbhach Mac Cába" agus "An Bhean Óg"

Filíocht: "Gealt?", "Jack", "An Chéad Dráma", "An Mháthair", "Úirchill an Chreagáin" agus "Dá mb'Fhéidir arís d'ár gCumann"

The poetry should cover Dánta Dualgais Breise and the other section shouldn't it?

I'll be grand with Stair na Gaeilge but then, there's the small matter of...

    "An Triail"

Any notes going for this anywhere?

    Cheers, again ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,089 ✭✭✭jefreywithonef

That's mostly all that I'm studying. But apparently there has to be a repeat of one of last year's Prós coming up so I'll also be cramming some Fiche Bliain Ag Fás and the drama about the stressed out mother (the name currently escapes me). Don't forget Faoiseamh A Gheobhadsa either in the Dánta Dualgais Breise section. I suppose there's a chance that an O'Searcaigh poem will come up but I'm hoping not. As for An Triail I've some notes that I'll post later.

Faoiseamh a gheobhadsa has come up the last two years. I dont think that'll come up this year.
