Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

in fairness i wud prefer see scholes play in the final than fletcher

Gutted for Fletcher. It was a great tackle, and now he will miss the final. I hope the ref looks at that later and is ashamed of himself for it, and that he at least appologises to Fletcher for it. Really gutted for the lad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,068 ✭✭✭yermandan

    Can you appeal that decision?

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 9,648 Mod ✭✭✭✭mayordenis

Pretty sure Uefa will allow an appeal, calm lads.

    Laporta in the stands.

Aw that's rough justice on Fletcher, he has been one of the best on the pitch tonight, gutted for the lad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,677 ✭✭✭Chong

Anyone know if that can be appealed or is it final?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,894 ✭✭✭Nunu

Not a chance Fletcher will be suspended. He got te ball - Utd will appeal and it will be rescinded.

Poor Fletcher. Great tackle, one of the best of United's season I'd reckon.

    squeky bum time for manu

Surely they can appeal that since it's clearly a mistake?

Just shown replay from viewpoint of ref - he's completely blind-side to it. How can he give that decision when he can't see the ball behind the two players?

I wish I could lip red to see what Fergie is saying to the 4th official!!

So all you haters still think refs are all biased against United's opposition?

SOME OF THEM ARE JUST PLAIN SH*T FFS

Surely we can appeal?? Absolutely gutted for Fletch, he's been immense all season especially in the CL.

Confirmed on ITV, no appeal is allowed.

    Not a chance.straight red

To be fair Fletcher was the last player back. Linesman should've had a much better view than the ref.

I still wouldn't worry about if I was a United fan. Arsenal haven't shown enough grit or determination to get back into it for the entire match.

There is absolutely no way you can call that a penalty. And then it's the complete joy with which he takes out the red card and ruins a person's dream. Feel really sorry for Fletcher. He has been immense this season and last tbf.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,675 ✭✭✭genericgoon

Yeah Fletch is massive loss, especially if we face Barca in the final.

There is no appeal, Uefa have already confirmed it. Disgrace that such a shocked from the ref will rob the lad of his place. Really and Truly gutted for Fletcher, he doesn't deserve it.

Aeful decision, I really hope the red card gets reversed. :(

Has his eye on a big money swoop for O'Shea by all accounts.

So ref is biased towards United? Bollox. He just ruined a final for a player who made a great tackle and got the ball.

Looked a lot like the pen decision that United got for them in the Tottenham game. No way to appeal it either so he is out and will not be available for the final. What's that about two wrongs :)

No, he's just a poor poor ref for both teams imo

Vela should have been brought on a long time ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,068 ✭✭✭yermandan

Just confirmed you cant appeal unless its a case of mistaken identity...So gutted for him, he was one of my MOM

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,316 ✭✭✭✭amacachi

ITV commentators say the only appeals allowed are for mistaken identities.

I can see UEFA being dicks and saying he got the man before the ball or something. Total BS decision.

Ah well, that one goal complete ruined a few peoples' nights. :D

Jesus 1 decision against united, in a game that's already over and "all the haters" have been proved wrong? negasaurus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

    Last man.

    Fletch is screwed.

He touched the ball but he wrapped his leg around the player.

    Dont see that being rescinded

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

    Little malicious from Adebayor.

It is a disgrace that you take such joy in Fletcher final place being robbed from him in such fashion, a disgrace, though i don't know that i'd expect better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,068 ✭✭✭yermandan

Adebayor should be off. Absolutely shockin tackle

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,552 ✭✭✭Bobalicious93

Adebayor should have seen red there. Disgraceful tackle on Carrick.

    Double standards. F*ck you UEFA

Well that makes no sense at all and just further highlights how ridiculous and archaic footballs disciplinary procedures are:mad:

Ah ya dont worry he loves popping with his impartial cyniscism when United play,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

    Would Fletcher have even started?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,291 ✭✭✭eclectichoney

    Can't believe there's no appeal :(

Fletch is a big, big loss, especially with Carrick not being at his best lately.

You wouldn't mind but he is genuinely not the kind of player who even gets booked a lot - so, so unlucky.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,155 ✭✭✭juvenal

According to the commentator here, the red card decision is final, and Manchester United cannot appeal the decision.

    Fletcher will miss the final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

I reckon the ref had money on it being a 3-1 victory and had to find a reason to give Arsenal some way of getting a goal.... :)

If I remember there was quite an uproar about that decision, from fans that nothing to do with the game even. So excuse me while I have my rant this time.

No appeal says espn too. No appeal on the suspension or anything? Is it just in the pl?

    True. What goes around

In fairness I dont think Fletcher was going to be in the starting 11 come the final anyway.

At least we can be greatful for that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

    How close was that?
