Awesome news! RO is such a great game after you get past the rather steep and unforgiving learning curve.

I would agree. Most people hate it at first, but if you give it enough time you will grow to love it.

    Its on steam pretty cheap

Game is WW2, russian front. More realistic shooting, 1 hit kills, injured limbs. Best of all was the tanks, damage specific, a misplaced shot can result in deflection (T34 tanks have a sharp angle at the front, so when its struck the round ricochets off). Graphics weren't state of the art but gameplay more than made up for it. Its still popular although it can be difficult to find a server you want

actually.... think ill have a go *runs installation*

Yeah, it's more about realism. For instance, looking down you iron sights doesn't give you a zoom effect. It also means that there are no health packs and 1 shot is usually sufficient to kill (though it is damn hard to hit people).

Also note that the battle fields are huge, on vehicle maps they can be several kilometres long, and objectives are not a flag as opposed to a region, it could be a whole town street, or a 5 story building., with many players both sides struggling for position and trying to gain to advantage over the other team.

Also things like an ammo counter, health bar, and cross hair are gone. If you're not sure how many times you have fired your bolt action rifle, then you won't find out until you need to reload (and you can't reload a bolt action half way through a clip either), can lead to some interesting moments when trying to sneak around behind enemy lines, 'was that 3 shots or 4' sort of thing. Also if you reload half way through a magazine, you still keep the half magazine, and when you reload into it you will be told 'maazine is heavy/light/really light' depending on how much ammo is in it, this also happens if you pick up an enemy gun, 'oh 6 mags, class - light, light, really light, light, heavy - woot'.

Also firing from the hip is as accurate as firing prone when iron sighted, the problem is the gun doesn't always point in the centre of the screen, with practice you can hip shoot accurately, but it gets insanely hard after 10m or so, longest I've ever got was about 60m with a bolt action, very satisfying.
