    Hi all,

Our family have had a tough year and I want to throw my mam a surpirse 50th b'day party. I've never done anything like this before and was wondering what the general costs will be?

Like should I be pushing for free room hire (in and around Dublin 7/9) because 40+ people will be drinking and possibly eating? Whats the average cost for a DJ? Will places allow me to bring my own food? Are strippers expensive?!

    Thanks ya'll!

You should find a pub that will let you have a function room at no cost - maybe the bar will have to reach a certain price.

Stripper should be a no-no. Very tacky. Would your mother really appreciate it?

DJ should be under 300 euro.

Thanks Enii, your right about the stripper, I'm thinking of hiring a big Chocolate fountain instead! Will press for a free room, and have found a dj for €275. Just need to go for the tastings and decide on a caterer, and then get decorations! So much to do!
