The artifacts you get first really suck. Later on you'll get ones that have less radiation damage or find ones that give you a minus radiation value.

aye bud. got that better detector. So i can see those better artifacts, got one with -3 radiation. so i can now put more artifacts on.

    cheers!

p.s. kind of like a new way of connecting zones. Costs, but does make sence to br honest

Was playing it for a few hours last night, it's pretty enjoyable. Only came across one bug where an NPC in Pripyat got stuck on a dead body and couldn't move.

I managed to get the suit to get into Pripyat, it has a good bit of Rad protection and what not plus two artifact holders but yet I still can't hold any without getting rad damage, even if it's +1 rad. I just end up selling everyone I pick up as I haven't once found a -1 rad artifact.

Managed to pick up 3 high level weapons in the first 10 minutes of the game by stumbling on hidden stashes, that was quite handy.

The bugs and save breaking patches put me off the first Stalker game a good bit. This new game however, is just brilliant. Really atmospheric, no bugs thank god and just enjoyable all round.

I think I read somewhere that there's co-op. Didn't even notice there was multiplayer. Anyone tried it?
Where are you meant to hide when the emissions/blowouts happen?I tryed hiding in a ship but I got killed anyway.

I was confused by this too but I think a general rule is follow the safety zone marker in your map, go to some spot where you can't see the outside at all and you should be ok. Helpfully, when you get to a safe zone, you'll see the mission status update in the lower left hand side of the screen. If you leave the safety zone, it updates again to tell you.

Give Oblivion Lost a go for the original Stalker, it makes the game 100% more enjoyable. Kind of like the Mods for MTW :pac:

I'm getting horrible stuttering every few seconds while playing, I've turned everything down to low settings and its still happening. Anyone else having this problem ?

The game isn't grabbing me as much as the last two did, the areas don't feel very engaging at all and the locations within them seem very pointless at times. The hot keys on the other hand are a nice feature, i've also found that I'm not using artifacts at all in the game, just end up selling all of them for a lot of money.

A nice addition was the custom weapon/armor guy you find on the ship in the first area, it's pricey but comes in handy at times if you want a nice exoskeleton suit !

Any patches for this? Only started and already getting the problem where NPCs don't spawn straight away.

Only started this last week. As an absolutely massive fan of Shadow of Chernobyl, and slightly less of a fan of Clear Sky, this is honestly right up there with SOC for me. Its absolutely nailed the Stalker atmosphere, and the whole looting/killing/stalking feel.
Gone is all the retarded humour of Clear Sky, the stupid, broken faction wars that made it feel more like you were in a warzone than a wasteland, its just you & The Zone
Absolutely fantastic game. And an early contender for GOTY for me

    Started playing this last night.
I was a big fan SOC but never played Clear Sky.

    It's great so far.

    Finally there are real blowouts!

played it and completed it, and loved every minute of it. The atmosphere really brings you into the game. I was a huge fan of the first and Im now on the side quests/missions.

Finished it there last week. It was different in to the previous two for obvious reasons but that was no bad thing. Still a scary game. I didn't hang around for too long in lab x 18, put it that way. Once you get the means to get some serious artifacts, the game really opened up and there were a nice few surprises along the way. Still, I think it was the easiest game of the series but it still deserves a solid 8/10 and acknowledgement as one of the few FPS series to really hold my interest as of late.

Started playing this and I've a few questions.

I can max this fine in dx10, any way to enable dx10.1?
Any other tweaks I can do to add effect?
I've the atmosfear mod dl'ed, any others recommended?
Whats the difference between HBAO and HDAO, not seing any noticable difference?

For mods, get yourself Improved textures for COP mod, Gnomus Scopes mod, and improved audio mod. You can find all of them on stalker.filefront.com or if you go to the official GSC COP forum, theres a mod download section there.
Steam tells me ive played 20 hours of this so far...god i love it :D

Thanks, I had a google and I'm running a good few mods as I've played the first 2 games and I want to skip through it:
    Atmosfear: http://atmosfear.crommcruac.com/call-of-pripyat/
    SMRTER: http://stalker.filefront.com/file/SMRTER_Pripyat;108615x#1926577
    Improved sound FX: http://stalker.filefront.com/file/Improved_Sound_Effects_Call_of_Pripyat_;111015
    Correct Ironsights http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/stalkercallofpripyat/mod/35382.html

Main problems with the vanilla games are that it becomes a chore, constantly dying, scavenging all the time, always with shíte weapons and no ammo. I'm not really into rpg's at all, find them tedious, I hated Fallout 3.

Anyone know if there's a way to enable directx 10.1?

Scavenging for weapons and ammo is part of what stalker is all about tho

Yes, but I've been through that twice. I was a huge fan of the first game, replayed it with the Oblivion Lost mod, then played the second and found it too samey and lost interest in it when 80% there and never finished it. I just want to burst through this time so I don't get bored

Do all these mods work installed together? I read the SMRTR mod wont work with other mods.

I think its working fine for me, You have to start a new game for most of the things in SMRTER to work. The Fallout mod in Atmosfear comes with a SMRTER compatibility patch
    http://atmosfear.crommcruac.com/call-of-pripyat/installation.php#
First install S.M.R.T.E.R., delete or rename 'gamedata/textures/sky' folder and then install AtmosFear, optional add-ons and patches.

Great thanks I'll try them later then. That scope mod looks good too, must try that also.

I tired of the Atmosfear mod v quickly and have removed it. Thing is I can completely max this game in dx10, but it looks absolute shíte with this mod. Morningtime sun rays look terrible with a purple sky so I'm back to the original sky and weather, which looks amazing.
