Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

hi guys n gals, have a problem with my Blackbird, hopefully some of you can offer some advice...........twice over the past 6 weeks, the battery has died / discharged while riding the bike.....started perfectly each day, but after a couple of hours...flat battery. it's a 98 model bb

Then it seems to rectify itself, and works fine.............so here's what i did......

charged the battery fully until this morning, armed with multimeter, this is what I got:
    on standby..........12.44v
    ignition on...........12.34v
    ign + headlight....11.94v
    back to ign only...12.18v
    after 2 mins........12.23v
    ign off..standby...12.42v
    cranking.............10.02v
    at 4k revs...........14.33v
    at 1.5k revs.........14.66v..............?????
    back to standby....13.56v

    then on to reg/rec:

    5 wires, 3 yellow, 1 red/white, 1 green

checked continuity with green wire & earth.........ok
    checked voltage at r/w wire.............................12.43v
checked for continuity with each of yellow wires and earth....no continuity....all ok
checked AC voltage on yellow wires with engine running at approx 4k revs, this is what I got:

    Y1 + Y2..............58.8v
    Y1 + Y3..............58.9v
    Y2 + Y3..............57.7v

So what does all this tell me?..........it would seem tht everything is fcukin perfect again this morning!!!!

what do you reckon guys and gals? dodgy reg/rec?

it's hard to know because it's charging now!!! all the connections look ok, so may just wait and see if it happens again
