Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Opera Mini for Windows XP

I have Windows XP. I have a laptop. I sometimes use my laptop to connect to the web via my mobile phone. A data bundle is not always an option. I know I can turn off images etc.

Is there such a browser as (or similiar to) Opera Mini for Windows?

    Thanks

You can in theory run opera mini on anything, it's a java app that uses a remote server. IMO there is no point to it if you can run a real browser. My phone uses a real browser (WebKit based) and my Archos runs a full version of Opera + some flavour of javascript + flash.

The only thing that will save a lot of traffic is turning flash, javascript and images.

Use Firefox with Flashblock to stop video ads downloading in background, and when a page is loaded go File | Offline in browser to block Refresh or Ajax. A better strategy.

Opera Mini is really for phones with only Java and no way to run a full browser. I don't think any "proper" Smart phones using Android, Symbian, WinMo/Ce, RIM or iPhone use it.
