Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

coz its gone to ****e maybe.

    Had my account suspended.

    Then unsuspended.

    Then suspended again.

Which is bizarre because, between the last two decisions, I'm not sure I even posted there.

Not sure why the changes of heart.

Presume it's because I post on the dark side.

I can't get into their forum at all.
I had my account suspended and unsuspended for no reason in the last few weeks too, Very strange.
    Don't view it much either

    There sure is.

It was a pretty bitter bust up. Looked like the new emIreland site wouldn't survive infancy, but seems to be much the busier now. I guess the crowing and satisfaction was kinda inevitable after so many pretty prolific posters were banned off DMI.

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 12,778 Mod ✭✭✭✭Zascar

Yeah I did not really hear the background story to it - does anyone know? I think they were clamping down hard and banning people etc - so they revolted and set up a new forum. Looks like most people went with them!

I was not really a fan of the original site much - I do look at the emi site a bit now though. I just found that there was for more complete and utter bollocks talk than there was discussion about music or clubbing etc. There are a million forums to mess about and talk sh!t on, I just think that when a forum is as specific on a subject pole should actively try to create good discussions so you can learn new stuff etc.

There are really some people with full blown anger problems who go completely bananas over little things - or simply only go on there to slag the sh!t out of everyone esle. Not even in a funny way - they just seem to like being a$$holes.

Why anyone would bother is just beyond me...

yeah i was curious when I heard about all the bannings from DMI, but after about 10 minutes on EMI, it was fairly obvious why some of those posters were banned.

I find most of the abusive nutjobs fairly entertaining but it's not for the thin-skinned. There's a lot of really sound lads on there too.

One of the best quotes I saw the other day was from one of the moderators and went something like this
'You can post links to illegal/pornographic/just plain wrong stuff, abuse each other as much as you like and do what you want, but the one thing I won't tolerate is spam'.

Got a laugh out of me anywho.

was never really on dmi but any time i've been on recently it's been dead.

i joined dmi just before all the bannings.
cant really recall what instigated it but the dmi crew handled it very very badly.bannings all over the place.deleting thread and ****.
the owner of dmi actually banned me because of comments i made on emi about the site.he contacted me through my email and told me.
    total bull**** of course.
they then unbanned me but i dont go back anymore, its a **** site in fairness.
emi is pretty decent.its got alot of people who do jump down your throat for anything but hey thats the internet all over really.they do seem to be outnumbering the people who do contribute to threads though.

Maybe they got sick of you whoring your wares, the way a good hotel might tell a 2 bit hooker to stop hanging around their entrance...:P:P

They'd want to be careful or they might just end up with a forum of 20 of them or so and no one else...

ha ha ha.is it my fault that i have tracks and remixes coming out.it is a dancemusic site after all.:D
but yeah they definitely dont seem to like my tracks over there.
ah well.i do find it strange that other people who post up there tracks dont recieve such harsh criticism(not talking bout the labels, just the other producers over there)

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 12,778 Mod ✭✭✭✭Zascar

Sean i could not beleive the first reply to your new track:
Well done on cramming all the ****ty fashionable production cliches of the last 3 years into one track. Great value as well.

I'd find out who he was and punch him in the fcukign head for that comment ;)

Edit: (Ok so obviously this tongue in cheek comment was taken the wrong way - I should not have bothered trying this type of humour over here....)

ha ha ha ha yeah that guy seems to have taken a massive dislike to all my tracks.
    not too fussed really.:D

It's like turning a water hose on a crowd at a gig. It's a safety valve.

If Sean doesn't get a dose of abuse every now and again, Zascar, whther its deserved or not, his ego could explode and cause an awful lot of harm!

ha ha ha.i didnt know people thought i was arrogant.
its all good,i dont mind the abuse.i do find it funny though that the same fella jumps on my threads to hurl abuse about my tracks.
even if i was making tracks he likes i dont think hed say anything good about them:D

ah sean's a good man for taking stick. remember the aldj fiasco? happy days.

Those guys on emi have a sort of competitive edge about who can be the most abusive cúnt.

The overall atmosphere is mental as a result.

I'd love to be standing face to face with them and see if they're so vocal with their abuse in real life. Doubt it somehow.

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 12,778 Mod ✭✭✭✭Zascar

    Very true.

I'd say most of it is tongue in cheek just seeking how much abuse they can come out with - which is great - but some is just so cutting its hard to tell if they are serious or not.

I think a lot of the lads know eachother personally etc so that would explain a lot as we'd all dish out the slags a lot more if we knew the person and they knew we were messing etc. It's hard to judge the vibe when you don't know the story so much

yeah and for some reason there are a load of people from Balbriggan on there. Have no idea what that's about.

They always seems to be a lot of inter-forum rivalry - I don't really see why, i get different things from different forums.

    Remember our old friend Hans?

    (over on emi)

Meh, they're on here all the time anyway, any time someone mentions boards.

The lads in the music forum for the main part have a good heart, but the place is terribly middle-of-the-road, and lacks opinion. Sapville, basically.

The daily "how can i get to be a dj" threads and the huge nostalgia and popular dance music fanbase on there don't help it much either.

Shame I'm banned, as I enjoy nerdy gear conversations though.
Shall we let him back in?

In fairness lads, the forum is only what we the members put into it. I think sometimes people are a bit scared to start new threads etc - we need to encourage more open discussion about anything.

Sean, pelase fire away and throw up any geeky techy threads you want. I don't know sh1t about production but I enjoy reading and learning about it etc...

jt is the tech whiz to be honest.but yeah id love to see some discussions about production but i think it would be moved to the production section on boards

actually a dedicated dance music production subforum would be a very very very good idea. the music production forum is populated by a very broad number of people.

actually I'd be willing to put up a load of articles about mastering, mixing, synth programming, drum programming, how to get tracks signed, etc. if there was one.

    just an idea.

I'd back that for sure. I'm digusted with the way this forum has gone recently, and the music production forum seems to be going down a dangerous enough route in terms of promotion of certain companies etc... Organise it or put in a request and I'm right behind yiz seannash/jtsuited

ah sure we'll wait til zascar gets back to us, i'm sure he'll sort out something.

from the time a certain poster arrived on the music production forum, I could see it was going to go that way. i brought it up (not very tactfully) and got myself banned in the process. there was an 8 page epic thread in feedback too.
And worst thing is, the certain poster did everything I thought he was going to do and lot more.

    Good times indeed.

great idea, i HATE the music production forum with a passion. Its just full of self whoring producers that just talk about their fancy studios and how their studio is so much better than yours. They are constantly just self promoting their own studio, its a very clicky forum i find. I find if you ask a question over there you often get a very patronising response and the mods are the worst culprits by far.

    +1 for this idea

the mod you speak of is as (of a few days ago) not a mod anymore.

it's a cliquey forum alright, I sort of took a back seat after my month ban from there.

i reckon a subforum like the clubbing section would be a good option.
be great to chat about stuff with producers on here.could also be a good place to get feedback on tracks and ****

not really , the only reason dmi went dead is because they got rid of those type posters.

As for the production feedback over there, the whole lick arse internet each producer bigging each other up thing doesnt really go down too well over there.

But when someone does come on and post very decent tunes, yes they do get complimented.
