    The injury I have is a slightly bulging disc right at the bottom of my spine. Rowing generally doesn't have a high injury rate, I was just unlucky I guess.

    With regards tips, I can't say much beyond the basics- Put in the hours for training. Technique is the most important thing starting off. You can be a big strong ****er but a scrawny youngfella would make mincemeat outta ya if ya can't row a boat properly. So listen to your coaches and put in some good mileage in boats. Get out on the water as often as you can, learning technique is all about mileage and eventually good form just becomes habit. But by neglecting technique, bad form becomes habit and it's much harder to undo. Strength and fitness will be built up over a while but technique should come first in my opinion. I was never that good in the weights room or on the rowing machine compared to other guys but by fúck I could make a boat move on the water, and that's what counts at the end of the day. :)

    Squats were all very deep. Almost didn't get the last rep, got it up a couple inches from the bottom and it went back down again. I was about to dump it when I looked up and saw the Lance Armstrong poster on the wall with his "pain is temporary, quitting lasts forever" quote so i drove the mother****er up. Felt great! :D
