    Will be renting in sept for college with friends. Weve found houses but some are 1 year leases when well only be there 9 months of the year.Will we be able to only pay for 9 months or does it depend?Seems stupid we have to pay when were not usin it?Thanks

    I you sign for a year, you have to pay for the year. that you actually pay monthly is a matter of convenience.

    Many students sublet for the summer and re-new the lease in September.

    Given the market is slow at the moment, there might be room for negotiation, but perhaps not in september when thigns are busy.
