Given his prior stances on Europe, I mean the guy has been against every single Treaty, against European supremecy and has been pretty much a hardened Euro Sceptic for 20 years isn't it a bit rich running for Europe. I mean what a fecking hypocrite.

Morals go out the window when you're an unemployed politician I guess.

Ah hypocrisy is Joe's middle name! He's doing a column for the Daily Mail ffs!

I think he's running just for the publicity tbh. While I agree with him on most things, he does no favours for himself. Like the other day he was attacking Labour, when lefty people should be fighting the fat cats, not each other. I'd say he's very bitter at the fact that his Party is static and not taken seriously. That's what ya get when you're permanent leader of a party i suppose...

Grow up, he ran last time out and got 20,000 first preference votes.I think he has an outside shot, but it involves getting ahead of Mary Lou and getting her second preferences. He could depending how much of De Rossa's surplus goes his way.

I like Joe, hard worker and decent skin. Did a lot for workers when a TD, particularly the GAMA case. i suppose you think he should 'stick to the kebabs'.

    Nice....

Em not particularly, as I'm sure it was that idiot Conor Lenihan that said that.

Anyway...I just don't get why these people who are so anti EU, like Higgins and Sinnott run for office in Strasbourg, its baffling. What do they think they're gonna achieve?
I know that rational left-thinking people will be voting for De Rossa in that the Dublin constituency

Honestly, if it's one thing the right and left have in common is that it's rare a cause that unites them.

Em ever since we were founded by James Connolly my friend ;)

Tbh I'm sick of this 'Champagne socialist' kind of talk... Sure I'd love if we moved a bit more far to the left, but we are the only mainstream left party and can actually bring about the progress that Higgins could only dream of

The parliment is full of Eurosceptics, who are anxious to obstruct the business of the organisation. Its their raison d'etre.

Thats what I get! Fair enough if ya stood for election to national parliment on an anti EU ticket but why work in the system when your so against it? I think the whole irony of euro sceptics who hate Europe getting elected to the EP has gotten a bit old tbh

Joe is a eurosceptic but his Parties mantra is to create Socialism through democratic means. He is unlike some other far left candidates that harp on about revolutions. Joe would like nothing more for the workers of the world to unite, but through the ballot box.

Indeed. It's pretty much why he's by far the most respected person from that group. The rest of them are rabble-rousers, he actually tried to get something done from within the system.
