What bookie was stupid enough to give you them odds?

Galway only have 7 players signed and made a raft of changes during the game.

Mervue had a far more settled team out.

Am now very sick. just saw the scoreline, jesus!

Paddypower had mervue @ 6/1 I kid you not.

    :(

Bookies give odds on LOI friendlies?

    Seems foolish.

Yes they can and yes they did and guess what they did? talk about promoting irish football?

You can't expect Galway United to give free admission. It just isn't viable to do that.

For those of you that want value, a season ticket works out at less than €8 per game.

    Promotions are run periodically also.

It's complete nonsense to accuse them of shooting themselves in the foot. You have to charge something into the game. The fees for the officials weren't even covered by the gate that was taken in last night.

I was only asking as I thought they may let people in free for a look, especiall with it being a "local game".

While not a season ticket holder, I was up to Terryland 5 times last season, and I support them whenevery I can.

I wouldn't have paid in last night for a local friendly, but I'll be up there for the first home game:)

And Paddy Powers giving 6/1:eek: Pity I only read it after the game:(

United had to charge for thr froiendly - it was an official friendly under the auspices of the FAI so they had to pay the referee, Civil Defence, would have had to pay for use of ground. A no brainer. Buy a season ticket and help your local club, rather than moaning on tinternet

I call bull**** on the PP 6/1 Mervue bet, there was no mention of it on the website(in the results section) and they had betting on all sorts of games right down below the conference, don't see why they'd have given prices for a match that most people didn't even know about.

Yes, Sean Connor was appointed over a month ago.

In unrelated news, did you hear about this?

Sorry, couldn't resist. I'm just glad to know people are keen to hear how United are doing on this forum.

We badly need some defenders and strikers signed up, but I'm sure Sean Connor has it all well at hand, going on his progress with the midfield.

Ha ha! Good one man. I actually used to go to Terryland quite a bit but I'm now exiled in Canada so I'm out of the loop. I played on the same team as O'Donnells brother at one point. He was highly rated at Arsenal so should bring as bit of quality to the team.
Connor has some good experience in Irish football and given the state of GUFC's finance he was probably as good as we could get.

He's also one of the top players in the league in his position.

Sean Connor was by no means the cheap option.

We received unexpected but welcome backing from our main sponsor, Papa Johns (Ireland), owned by Pat McDonagh, allowing us to recruit a manager with League of Ireland experience.

Galway United received a Premier Division licence for the 2010 season today, as expected.

Nearly all of the signings for the new season should be announced between now and the friendly on the weekend.

We have a nice squad coming together. The midfield is shaping up excellently.

Sean Connor will have to get some defenders and a couple of strikers in now.

It is rumoured that trialists Ingo Enzenberger and Karl Shephard (both strikers), will sign in the coming days.

Isn't Jimmy Bullard injured or will this be used as a "reserves" match to ease him back into action?

Confirmed in today's Daily Star by Sean Connor that we have signed Red Bull Salzburg Juniors and former Austrian U-20 international Ingo Enzenberger.

Predominantly a striker it seems, but is also capable of playing on the wings.
