    Thanks Civis.
We totally dominated them for the entire game. Samus was outstanding in midfield. He stole Stevie's thunder.

    Ohhh happy days.

    [Insert Metroid joke here]

My stomach was in knots for the last 2 days thinking about it. The match really lived up to what I was hoping for and then some.

Seanie really feels he can do something here, now it's up to us to row in behind him.

Fully deserved win. Created loads of chances, should've scored 2 more for sure.

Lineswoman on the far side was terrible, some very bad calls. Especially when Shep "put us 2 up" only to be booked for playing on. How could he be offside, it came off the defender

Still, good to see a bid crowd up there, 1,433 was the gate, and that was with season-ticket holders having to pay in again.

    Well done lads :)

I'm just hoping and praying that we can keep a hold of this squad in the off-season. Would really hate to see our better players leave especially to rival clubs

Great to see Derek O'Brien, Paul Sinnott and Steve O'Donnell on the front page of the Advertiser today.

Anyone hoping to secure the future of Galway United should join the Maroon Army Members' Draw and get two more to sign up with them.

Anyone can join, even if they are not supporters of the club.

For €20/month you are entered into a draw for €700 in monthly prizes. (1 x €500 + 2 x €100). Many people with no affiliation with the club have availed of this.

For €30/month you are entered into the above draw but also receive a 2011 Galway United season ticket.

For €40/month you are given DOUBLE ENTRY into the above draw and also receive a 2011 Galway United season ticket.

Now thats a more realistic season ticket price!
I hope it is well received.

Kippy, please don't take this the wrong way, but €150 for 20 games is more than reasonable.

I don't think the suggestion that the €150 ticket was unrealistic is fair at all. Not picking an argument, just giving my opinion.

Also, the €99 ticket is the equivalent of a €5 child ticket from this season past.

Actually a 150 euro would buy you 4 months worth of Sky Sports. Galway United don't exactly play at a very high level...just saying!

Sorry, I was comparing the the highs of €250 ( I think) a few years ago, where they also managed to alienate much of the family supporters with the high family ticket prices. I am glad to see the prices have fallen back from then.
€150 isn't bad either in fairness.

Dont agree with the quality of football arguement posted since either. I've seen many a great game (entertainment and quality wise) at Terryland over the years. Most PL matches are overhyped sky bullcrap anyway and I would much rather support the locals (at the right price of course)

€150 was good value for money last season. €99 is an absolute bargain and I hope the reduction in price helps get a few(lot) more through the gate next season. I saw some absolutely cracking games up at Terryland over the last few seasons. And you cannot beat the excitement/atmosphere of a live game to get the blood pumping. Just look at the faces of the fans in the picturs above for proof of that.

Galway United Supporters Trust have called an open meeting for all supporters this Wednesday, November 24th, at Terryland Park, 7.30pm (new meeting room).

Statement released by board yesterday is a fabrication.

GUST can prove that football debt is at least €70,000.

"Debt has been reducing on a year-on-year basis".

In 2007 it was €100K. The debt is now at least €900K, probably higher than €1,000,000.

All United supporters asked to come to the meeting at Terryland this evening, 7.30pm.

Damn it! One of my favourite players
Blades cut deal for Irish ace Seamus Conneely

  • Registered Users Posts: 199 ✭✭tribesman78

Fair play to him he deserves his chance. he played his heart out every game for united. If Galway united were smart they should have added international bonuses into the contract if he gets a debut for senior team.

Its been coming for a while. And for 60 grand, they're getting a bargain. Good luck Seamie and thanks for everything

    I despair, I really really do... :(

Why? I went to nearly every home game for 4 seasons. I tried going again a couple of years ago. After a few matches I gave up. It was overpriced for the quality of Football. Sky Sports gets me Spanish Soccer, English Soccer, American Football, Golf...I'll agree it's much better to watch a live game but it just got overly frustrating. There's only so many times you can watch the United defense play head tennis at the back before you'd had enough.

I admire your devotion to the club but I gave that up.

Nobody is looking for or expecting devotion to the club.

I think our aim as supporters is for people to attend matches and enjoy themselves. You don't and that's fair enough. I have my own opinions as to why I reckon you don't enjoy it but they are best kept to myself.

    Personally
, I would watch one of the 11-a-side floodlit league matches at the end of my road every week, rather than "support" a team via Rupert Murdoch and my couch. It sounds like a dig, but it is just a very very mild version of what my opinions on the matter are.

Although I'm fairly sure it will fall on deaf ears... I'd like to appeal to you to get the €99 ticket and take in as many games as you can next season.

If I didn't have my trip down to Terryland Park every second Friday, it would feel like a death in the family... Despite all the shíte that has gone on in the past number of years regarding ticket prices and other things I better not mention... there are lots of people working hard to secure the future of the club and build it up as a part of the community again.

We have a manager who knows what he is doing and along with the squad he assembled nearly from scratch, managed to avoid relegation, while clearly being embarrassed for being congratulated for doing so.

He has a bit of fire in his belly and a "We're Galway United, f*** everyone else" attitude and has partly been the catalyst for some of the "rallying of the troops" that has happened over the last number of months.

It does require a bit of a leap of faith for some to buy into that, but I can guarantee you value for money, that I have no doubt.

I'm sitting on the fence here.

Wompa1 was a regular at Terryland but he got disillusioned and stopped going. It is up to people like the Galway United Supporters Trust, who seem to be proactive, to make people like Wompa1 want to go back to games.

I too enjoy foreign football on TV but I also like watching GAA and going to Galway United games. The facilities in Terryland are excellent, it is centrally located and it is well stewarded. Sometime, yes sometimes, the football is good too.

What can we do to entice you back Wompa1 ?
