    Pinturrichio,

Thanks for some clear information which I think has not been forthcoming from the club for too long. And, as I've said before, I'm not the kind to attend meetings in Terryland.

I really do think genuine sports fans in Galway would be more supportive of United if people knew the mess that was left behind by the last regime.

I'm a season ticket holder myself but just haven't been able to bring myself to attend the last few games, due to how bad the performances have been.

Surely it can't be too hard to find / publish the names of the directors who appointed Leeson as CEO. Would I be correct in saying that a local sports journalist was also on the board?

Gerry Fallon was chairman at one stage. He never wrote about football though. He's far more interested in rugby.

Gerry Fallon was the sponge boy. John Fallon was the Chairman, which was an unusual appointment to say the least. His background is that he was a well known Gaelic footballer in his day, a journalist with the Connacht Tribune before quitting to become commercial manager of Connacht Rugby combined with being a freelance hack.

Many were surprised to see him then become Chairman of United. He seems to be an all round Mr Nice Guy but perhaps he just jumps on the latest sporting bandwagon.

I'm not too sure if he left a legacy behind him.

I think he writes for the Galway Indo now. It's a good paper for removing stubborn dirt off windows.

Sorry, I meant John, not Gerry.

    Hey,

A friend told me he heard that no one wants to play and players get booked on purpose to get suspended to go on holidays or get the week off etc.. is this true?

  • Registered Users Posts: 114 ✭✭El Mullo

Most of the players don't get paid if they aren't playing.

Getting deliberately suspended to cost yourself money ?

Why bother posting something if its just going to be complete rubbish. And before you say 'oh but my friend told me' etc, does it honestly sound even remotely plausible, NO.

He's friends with some of the players, obviously wouldn't tell me who. No need to lose the head at me.

I'm hardly making it up i'm just passing on what i've been told. Said that there have been a few times they would get suspsended on purpose if they had holidays booked or a wedding next weekend etc..

Are you from Galway? I am and it sounds very believable and any one i've mentioned it has a stronger belief than I do that it's probably true.

    It is completely stupid.

Why would anyone deliberately cause themselves to be down their weekly wage ?

"I think I'll come in late to work today, so they can fine me a weeks wage. Nice one !".

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,772 ✭✭✭civis_liberalis

And anyways... getting yourself suspended, losing your pay for the week or whatever number of weeks it might be... for the sake of getting out of playing a match in the top tier of Irish football, when you are training all week and would obviously still be required to train regardless of your eligibility for the next match.

Nobody would stand in the way of any player wanting to leave.

The whole notion that someone would think this way literally makes my head hurt.

Either somebody is deliberately trying to stir the pot or you've been taken in by someone who talks absolute nonsense.

I've been going to Galway Utd games since 1986 so i think i probably have a better idea than you. Anyone can make up a rumour when a team is on a run as bad as we currently are and then spread it and other people go 'oh yeah that sounds right', doesnt make it true.

Ok i'm not going to say anymore not enjoying the bullying. was just trying to inform as it has been confirmed since as being 100% true... anyway...

What's the story with the loans? Is the club going to be bled of all future income until debts are paid?

Bullying isn't when people tell you that you are talking nonsense, dont get yourself confused there. Name the players that have been getting themselves deliberately suspended so???????

  • Registered Users Posts: 114 ✭✭El Mullo

    Complete waffle.

The last three players sent off while playing for the club (Laurence Gaughan, Eduardo Dusi and Yob Son) are not from Galway.

If you have holidays booked, or a wedding, you don't have to get deliberately booked, sent off, and deducted wages, unless you are a cretin. Most managers would allow a player time to go to a family wedding. And even if you are suspended, you have to train, so the "I want to go the US, am going to get myself sent off" theory is blown out of the water.

A footballer called Yob Son? I love it.

Shows how much you are out to get me... I never said anything about anyone getting sent off!!!!!!!!

Now now I'm hardly going to name the players on a public forum like this. I am very tempted to pm them to you, but it's not really my place and sure I don't know you you're hardly not going to tell anyone

You are not going to name the one player, just smear them all.

Seriously, stop acting like a 2year old. I've asked the last question twice. you clearly are just looking for an excuse to slate me. I cannot name the player I told you why. Can you please respond positively to my last question please

  • Registered Users Posts: 114 ✭✭El Mullo

You are the one acting like a two-year old - making patently untrue and ludicrous accusations about all our players, with no evidence whatsoever.

You then expect me to answer further questions to confirm your "United are finished" theory.

What are you talking about my United are finished theory? When did I say such a thing. That's the second time you have lied about something I have said :(

I never made an accusation about 'all the players'. I made it clear that the accusations were well founded and very clearly was not all the squad, only a small minority. I clearly am not going to dish out names on a forum like this, I doubt the mods would be too happy.

Why can't we all be friends?

Because you are bad mouthing players and therefore the club with your unfounded assertions regarding suspensions, you have said in your posts that its 'players' then next 'i cant name the player', your point comes across with more holes than Swiss cheese.
