Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

UEFA Condemn Chelsea Conspiracy Theories As 'A Load Of Crap'

UEFA general secretary David Taylor has condemned the assertions by many connected with Chelsea that there was a conspiracy to rob them of a place in the Champions League final, as evidenced by the refereeing display of Norwegian official Tom Henning Ovrebo, who is currently barred from speaking to the media by UEFA.

Taylor, the former chief executive of the Scottish Football Association, told The Guardian, "It's a load of cr*p and you can quote me on that. If anything it's a media conspiracy against UEFA.

"It does make me angry. It really annoys me because it's a load of rubbish."

Ovrebo has been subject to all kinds of security measures, being smuggled away from London in a cloak of secrecy, as it emerged today that he had received several death threats. Chelsea players surrounded the referee at the end of the game, and subjected him to a torrent of harsh, and often foul-mouthed criticism, based around the fact that he had turned down four very convincing penalty appeals.

Barcelona fans might also point to Eric Abidal's red card for a seemingly innocuous challenge on Nicolas Anelka as further evidence of refereeing ineptitude, though the focus has largely been on Chelsea as the beaten team.

Ovrebo has made one comment, telling the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten, "Because of the circumstances after the match, UEFA has asked us not to comment to the press."

What disciplinary consequences there will be for the Chelsea players guilty of dissent, particularly Didier Drogba who was heard swearing live on television, remain to be seen.

Frankly Chelsea's suggestion that there was a conspiracy is pathetic.

I thought it was one of the worst displays from a ref i have ever seen. But i would put that down to a crap ref rather than Michel Platini's mission to de-throne English club football.

Who would be a ref eh? You do well, nothing is said. You do bad, your life is threatened.

I thought there was a bit too much peno hunting by the chelsea players and that cost them when the legitimate claims for a peno happened.

Drogba was acting the fool after the game. He seemed to have gotten over that injury that he limped off for. Can recall a t least one other occasion in game where he was tapped and went down like a sack of spuds. Ridiculous considering how he's built. Made a show of himself really. And how about ballack getting all up in the refs grill? looked like he was going to hit him :D

Players obviously feel the same Drogbas apologised and Bosingwa retracted his comments. Both won't make any difference.

How can they even keep this up when a Barca player was sent off at 1-0 for nothing?

    He was just a sh1te ref...no conspiracy.

+1...And is there really a need for 3 threads on more or less the same topic?

if essien hadent missed the ball when he was hurrying to clear it and allow messi to set up iniesta for the shot, none of this conspiracy ****ee would have been mentioned.

Would anyone really expect UEFA to say anything other than "it was all lies."

Bosingwa - ref is a 'thief'

Chelsea's Jose Bosingwa has launched a stunning attack on referee Tom Henning Ovrebo, branding the Norwegian a 'thief'.

Chelsea will not have the chance to gain revenge on Manchester United - who they lost to in last season's final as they were knocked out by Barcelona following a dramatic second-leg encounter at Stamford Bridge.

Andres Iniesta's stoppage time goal levelled Michael Essien's first-half goal and sent the Catalan side into the final to face United.

The Blues side have been left furious with Ovrebo's performance as they feel the referee failed to give them at least three clear-cut penalties.

After the game, striker Didier Drogba could not control his emotions and called Ovrebo a "disgrace", and Bosingwa has now echoed the Ivorian's frustration.

"This referee was bought. I do not know if he is a referee or a thief. There are no words to describe the person that was on the pitch here," he told RTP after the game.

"The way he refereed the match was not the most correct one. He should never referee again.

"We are all sad, but we have to raise our heads high again. There is nothing to say about Barcelona's goal, but there were penalties that were not awarded."

Simple fact is that it implies conspiracy and if you cant see that then your not being level-headed to be honest.

    Imply conspiracy.
Retract statements in order to try and avoid punishment.
Still means he implied that there was a conspiracy.

Does one player = the club now? The title should be changed to say Bosingwa thinks it was a conspiracy or something. I wonder would UEFA use such colourful language is describing the ref's performance? I doubt it. Both refs were very poor, I cant wait to see what clown they give the job to in the final.
