Owl at sea

Very interesting. I've heard that birds on migration often will stop on boats and rigs to rest for a while. I think it was on springwatch a coupe of years ago that they showed footage of a barn owl on an oil rig way off the scottish coast.

I see in the blog that the writer said it was a long eared owl in the photo but i really think that is a short eared owl. Open to correction though.

I have done a bit of offshore sailing and you get birds landing right on the deck beside you, no fear. We usually give them water and breadcrumbs, they act tame, must be cause the are knackered tired.
