'As long as Harvey Norman's continue with their advertising campaign, I will not be shopping in their stores'.

Do people agree with me that their style of campaign is too agressive and loud? I really can't bear listening to it anymore. Perhaps if enough people let them know that they won't do business with the company unless they tone down the ads, they might listen.

Do we really need to be shouted out to buy stuff? Vote with your keypads people...please

Ads are ads.

Far more objectionable is that prick Gerry Harvey, who as BocktheRobber said, had the temerity to compare the troubles of his furniture chain to the Famine.

That, and the fact that chains like Harvey's and Tesco are draining money out of the economy (with the exception of those they employ, which I admit is something tangible in these times).

I have lived with that man shouting at me from the radio for years and frankly I've had enough. I swear on my laptops life that I will never every purchase a single item from that chain as long as they continue to be so agressive in their marketing.
BTW, obviously it's good that they provide employment and pay taxes etc., I'm not disputing that. But why do they have to SHOUT AT ME ALL THE TIME. Even on Lyric FM (yes, I am a listener).

I find their pricing structures and policy on price "reductions" during "sales" to be a much better disincentive to shopping there. Their ad campaigns merely enforce this view, but as mentioned above if you find their ads annoying you certainly need to listen to/watch more adverts for Irish based companies...

Their ads are still better than the typical Northern Irish furniture ad. You know the ones that look like powerpoint presentations that are charged by the slide.

Nearly all Australian ads were like that. Harvey Norman just kept on to the idea.

Usually the owners of the business would do their owns ads.

And yes shouting was the order of the day.

Search for 70/80's used car dealer ads on You Tube to see for yourself.

I haven't a bad word to say about Harvey Norman, I got a great deal on a leather suite a few weeks ago.
I would definitely shop there again.

The mute button is even better! the one on my remote is almost worn away, they up the "loudness" during the ad breaks so I just mute to avoud being deafened, especially if the programme I'm watching is quiet.

The harvey ads put me off ever going there, I was sure the voice would be blasted all around the store, but I hear they don't do this. I also despise ryanair flights where they turn the sound up really high flogging stuff, can't get a kip.

eh...missed the point there I think.
I don't want anyone to lose their job, of course not. What I want, is for HN to change their marketing campaign. I find it too agressive.
I believe their business may actually improve, as I know many people who won't shop there for the same reasons as me.
