    Hi,

A friend of mine is very passionate about amateur dramatics and wants to set up a drama society. She's not sure how to go about it and I was wondering if anyone with experience setting one up could maybe give me some advice or guidlines about the steps needed to create one. She's got a great idea for her first show, Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven", which would be a great intrrduction as it'll be a small cast i.e one and a narrator. If successful it would encourage others to join. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    JB

    Hi JB,

What part of the country is your friend based? She may not need to set up a new group as there is probably one close by anyway.

The DLI are the people you need to talk to

    http://www.dli.ie/contactus.htm

They have (had a few years ago anyway) information packs for new groups giving lots of useful advice.

They would also be able to put you in contact with a group in her locality.

And of course there is the boards.ie drama group based in Dublin
