Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Complication for the sake of complication. From a MetCon standpoint I imagine they're a total suck fest. Don't know why you'd bother tho.

Anyone ever done power cleans starting on your knees? There's a strange exercise, but a good un.

    Nope.
I have done the jumping squats from knees or whatever they are called.
Cleans would be the next thing on the progression I'd imagine.

I tried cleans with light dumbells once and hit myself in the face.
    True story.

Can you use MS Paint to explain WTF you are on about :pac:

    Technically yes.
But a kneeling clean you start in a kneeling position and jump from it rack the bar and land on your feets.

I'm working on finding a vid, but if you look at yesterdays entry on crossfit.com there is a video called 56 inches of fame.
    There are some in that.

    Also Hanley, POWER clean?

Yup, that's how I started them. I couldn't get the full movement right so I started from the knees to get used it; only started doing them from the ground recently, and they're still not great - but it definitely helped!

Ahhhh ye mean kneeling down? I thought you just meant starting with the bar at your knees as opposed to on the ground.

Yeah, power. Jez the effort of having to be so precise about everything around here!!

That video yesterday's fcuking bullsh!t btw. Fair play to the guy for jumping that high, but there's lots of people going higher. I absolutely DESPISE the way Crossfit'ites use the whole "well if you think you can do it, you set the record" excuse. I'm pretty sure there's a tonne of vids on youtube of guys going higher.

I'm a pedantic dick, its my thing that I do.:D
Imagine having the hips to make a kneeling power clean.

I hear Chuck Norris can do a kneeling split clean.

Whatever about that video, I don't give a **** about CrossFit inc nonsense, I just like seeing dudes with huge hops.

Power/Full = where your hips are in relation to your knees at the lowest part of the movement

A "power" clean (of any sort) is where your hips are higher than your knees at the lowest part of the movement (ie you never break parallel)

Anything else is "full". But in weightlifting circles, unless you qualify by saying "power" it's assumed to be a full clean. So a "clean" is a clean where you catch the bar with your hips elow the level of your knees.

Clean: - bringing the bar from the floor to shoulder height in one continuous motion with a full squat.

Power clean: - bringing the bar from the floor to shoulder height in one continuous motion with a quarter squat.

I didn't find them bad to be honest just weird. Just do a burpee but obviously stop when your chest touches the bar. Then clean it up and jerk it above your head without taking the hands off the bar.

I don't care about the source, that's wrong.

"Power" is any time that parallel isn't broken after receiving the bar.

thats what i take those definitions to mean though.

    Clean - break parallel

Power Clean - dont break parallel (1/4 squat)

Yeah, but you can go further than a 1/4 squat and still not break parallel.

I'm sick of a cardio focus so back to weights I guess.

Looking at a two day split.

    Day 1:Chest and Legs
    BB Bench press
    Squats
    DB Bench Drop set
    Deadlifts
    Chest flys
    Lunge/Switch Press-up super set

    Day 2:Shoulders and Back
    Military Press
    Bent over Rows
    Shrugs (Barbell)
Lat Pull down/DB Shoulder press super set
    Weighted reverse crunch (Roman chair)

My main concerns are having the big 3 on the same day, I just find I lift better with chest and shoulders on separate days. Would I be better with chest/back & leg/shoulder
