Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You know the celtic tiger is long gone when we're resorting to lines of splenda.

    Never said they were.

You said you don't like kipping pull ups because you don't "feel" them and prefer to go nice and slow. It's like saying you don't like hang power cleans becuse you can't "feel" them, so you do reverse curls instead.

It's the same basic bar path, but both have wildly different purposes.

I'm doing a ketogenic diet and a few days ago I had to stop myself from having all the sugary crap that was abundant in my house.. now I'm a little better. I want some but I don't think I'm bothered having it.

Never said i do one in place of the other for the same benefits. I said i don't like A and i prefer B. In no way does that equate to A = B. You're just being pedantic for pedantic's sake.

OK. I do curls because I prefer them to one armed deadlifts.

Went to see one of the Cirque du Soleil shows last night. Unbelievable strength, flexibility and agility by pretty much every performer. Was phenomenal.

    This is pretty stupid.

    Nice.

I have only ever seen one person, apart from myself, use the GHR to do GHRs. Most people seem to think it's some kind of complicated situp bench. The only fella I've seen use it is the owner of the gym, you'd think he'd spread the good word :) .

I've seen this a couple times, our GHR is pretty much the furthest point in the gym away from the dumbell rack, right at the opposite wall, so he had to hike past a preacher bench, a machine preacher bench and half a dozen other suitable surfaces before he finally got to it.

You know you've overcooked it slightly when you have to put Difene Gel on your back just to continue sitting down.

What's a good time for crossfit Murph?
Actually, what are decent target times for most of the popular ones/

edit:Actually, might ask in the metcon thread

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,256 ✭✭✭Molly

What do you mean by good?

You can look here however I would disregard a lot of the extremely fast times as they're probably just full of crap. Are you kipping or doing dead hangs for Murph? Personally with kipping and without a vest I think under 38 would be decent, under 35 good, under 30 elite.

If you look at the 2010 games site you should be able to get a good indication of what some elite people are doing for named workouts.

I did it in 38 minutes 20 seconds last time I tried at around 100kg FWIW.

    Did it Cindy style.

My most recent was 42 mins, cindy style,
Obv aiming for sub 40 and then mid 30s from there, Just looking to have an idea what the average/elite times are like,
ditto for the other named workouts

Training went swimmingly today  Felt like getting sick after finishing squats. My abs are killing me from doing presses and I got three sets of 7 pullups (admittedly the last set was a bit ropey towards the end.) I'm on a post lifting buzz now.

No Joke. I was staring a relatively not heavy front squat out of it and I overheard him and this other kid (who was doing absurdly high volume leg presses)..."I don't usually train here I train at Hercules club".

Other lad: "...I've trained there.." (didn't hear much after that.)

then the first lad: "James Hanley? ...."

Kid was in good nick though.

I've heard this many times too...
