I usually do a full body workout in the gym three days a week, for the last week it feels like my legs haven't been recovered fully. I gave them an extra day off there last day and it helped I think. Just wondering if there's something I could do to help recovery? I've recently upped the intensity of my training but don't know if it'd merit doing a split instead of full body workout?

Hitting about 100g protein per day, weigh around 124/125lbs

Do you stretch/foam roll/get massages & sleep loads?

Do you stretch/foam roll/get massages & sleep loads?

I had a bit of trouble getting to sleep over that last week too, seemed like the more exhausted I was the worse I slept. I also seem to wake up two hours after I get to sleep a lot of nights?

I try and foam roll after most workouts, and do a few leg stretches. It's only my legs that really get sore

I suppose it was probably just a rough week, but thanks for your help!

Funny, with the pec and arm implants his complete lack of shoulder and lat development makes his arms look flabby.

    What a fool.

I keep f*cking psyching myself out when deadlifting!!!

Every time I hit the same or higher than my PB I freeze up mentally when I set up and grab the bar. Currently I'm stuck at 150kg (I've lifter 160 before). Today, after the rest of my back workout, I did two reps of 100, 110, 120, 130, 140 and when I hit 150 I hit a wall mentally. The 140kg was no problem at all, I've been working a bit on my set up for the deadlift and it paid off.

When I do lift the heaviest I have tried it's not exactly hard, the bottom third is challenging, trying to brace the abdomen is strenuous but I never feel like I'm truly pushing myself. I don't believe it's a physical limitation.

Based on my overall strength I reckon I should be able to lift way heavier than I'm doing but I can't get the bar off the ground. Today one of the lads started shouting at me to lift it (it's a gym without instructors or people who care about that sort of stuff) and I just went over and lifted it.

Would taking the bar from a rack and then lowering it to the floor and back up be beneficial I wonder? (not a rack pull, just starting from the rack and stepping back away from it to deadlift normally).

I really like the deadlift and it's the only one that my mind is afraid of.

If you know you can lift it, tell yourself that. A positive mental attitude is the way to go. I've gotta pull 162.5kg for a double this week, I posted in my log about my negativity and how unsure I was that it would even get off the floor. A few of the lads posted some tough love and now I can't wait for it to come round cause I know it'll come up and I know I'll smash it and my PR by 10kg!

Morale of the story, if you know you can lift it, tell yourself exactly that. Don't go into it saying 'Oh, I don't know it's heavy and blah blah blah...'. :pac:

Alternatively, go on the Coan programme because speaking from experience no matter what the weight is, no matter how heavy it is, you'll lift it because you simple don't want to go through any more of the torture that it entales:pac:

Disclaimer: I am not being payed by anyone to advertise the Coan DL programme even though I've recommended it to just about everyone:pac:

^^No idea but I have had positive experience with http://www.killertees.ie/ if that helps. Gildan soft are the loveliest t-shirts.

No experience with them. FWIW F&F (€3 Tesco) t-shirts are about the best quality I've had. I'm planning on printing a couple of those.

That's the 1st thing, next time do it at the start of your workout when you're fresh, fatigue is only going to have a negative effect.
You as good as said yourself that you're over thinking it, use an MP3 player next time and block out all thoughts.
Personally when I max out at deadlift the limit can kind of jump out of nowhere, Ill lift x amount and its fine, I add 10kg and the bar feels like its been bolted to the ground

I can say that Gildan t-shirts are the worst fitting t-shirts you can imagine, Xamax sell those, as well as various other brands.

Gildan are the brand you see for sale at gigs with merchandise stalls.

Fruit of the Loom Raglan t-shirts are your only man. The Guildan sweatshirts are awesome. I buy both on eBay just to train in.

Definitely pay that little bit extra for quality Hanley. The cheaper quality brands always shrink in the wash, fade etc.

You should look at Kukri if getting some made up/printed.

    Excellent quality.

Dave McConkey got hoodies & t-shirts from them.
    V reasonable for the quality

I have the grid and couldn't recommend it more. I find it much better than the normal ones. I have it about 2 years now, use it about 6 times a week and it's still in perfect condition.

Lads, where would I get a decent belt online? Say 60e or so? Tried strength shop but the delivery wouldn't make it worth it. Anyone got any suggestions?

If you're willing to stretch your budget out a few more quid (for shipping mainly), the single prong version of this is yer only man:

    https://liftinglarge.3dcartstores.com/mobile/home.asp?cat=12#page-46

If you can find it elsewhere for cheaper (adverts or something like that) grab it.

If you're on a strict budget, get onto Pro Fitness Supplies and take a look at what they have.

Is there a parcel motel near you? They are great for cutting down shipping costs from the UK. €3.50 per 48hr stay and the first two are free. www.parcelmotel.com
