Hi, Going for broke here but im guessin if anyone can help, im not gona find it in any better place!! PLanning on doing a wacky rally across europe in june from lille in france to budapest in Hungary

Now, here's the catch....Looking for a car for €250, has to have the NCT till end of june so we can tax and insure it for a wk or so. Needs to be in decent nic to make the journey but aside from that couldnt give two hoots about scratchs, dents etc.

Everyone thinks we're mad goin for it but hell its gona be an adventure! There has to be cars out there that people dont want anymore but i aint seemin to have any luck findin them.

If anyone can help, or even point us in the right direction id be gratefull.

Try look for a turbo suzuki alto. 4wd and the turbo to help out in problematic places. I know someone that picked one up last year for €50!!

Or look for a K10 Nissan Micra Superturbo if you can get one!!

Cheers for the heads up about the corolla, just got it there yesterday, good car too! jooks like somebody kicked the crap out of it but its comfy and the engines in decent nik so hi ho hi ho its off to the rally we go!!

Looks really cool - would love to do it but it's a bit short notice and I've too much on this year as it is. If I was going I would be looking at something with comfort and decent power, RWD with tiptronic auto so you could still enjoy the mountain passes. Maybe a '96 E39 523 in 'Team Poleizi' decals? Ooh yeah! I'm sure you could find a driveable one with a bit of body damage in the UK for around this price!

It was a 95 Jap import 1.5 Corrolla (navy blue), 90k on the clock IIRC, AIR-CON, full electrics. The bodywork was rough but Woodsy said it drove well. All for €250:)

My advice is to go for a big car. Forget about economy and go for comfort and strength. You'll get better value for your 250 euro in a big car as nobody wants them. Enjoy the trip.:)

I recently bought a subaru vivio, doesn't look like but it is a good car. Everybody is shocked when they're in it, it runs well and it barely needs any petrol. The only down side it feels bumps. It's smaller than a micra(only slightly) so if your a bunch of guys it mightn't be for you, if my father is in the car I have to remind him to move his knee so I can change the lower gears.

Like you said, catch the ferry from dublin then drive to dover, gona take about 6.5 hours but plannin to catch the late ferry so we can drive through the night and catch the early fery to calais. then its just an hour drive to lille! adds an extra day but the ferries to france only run twice a week and not when we want them....cheak of em, i know!

I can give you a rough rundown, if ya want be we reckon acc,reg, car, petrol everythin bar a bit of grub and booze (stockin up in france) should round us ap to about €400 each, thats splittin everythin between 4, plus were hangin around for an extra 2 nights in budapest!

but it never goes to plan!!!

Anythin else, just give me a shout!

The Beast is still tickin over anyways, brought her to a proper mechanic yesterday and bar a couple of minor things she's spot on happy days!

Jeez €200 aint bad at all.. im off looking at a 96 Galant diesel at the moment for the trip to Barcelona.. but the guy is looking for €800 so some serious haggling to do..

Ah sound, ya gona do the barca one? ive a couple of mates doin that one too. couldnt get the time off for the budapest one! You'll be doin well to get the guy down from 800 but a diesel would be sweet, save yourself a good bit on the travel

Yeah but if i got him down to €500 id be happy.. ur gonna struggle to get a car for €300 in ireland that will work for 2 rallys..

Gonna do a 7 day one from Northern France to Krakow in Sept too.. so need something that will last.. and the Barcelona alone over and back will cover nearly 3500 miles..

So add another 4000 miles for the second one.. a diesel is the obvious choice methinks..

Pm me the details of ur mates who are doing the Barcelona one and I have a chat with em..
