Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

KERS & Monaco

I've been mulling over whether or not Monaco is the worst place for KERS cars?

Granted, you have the start/finish "straight", Ste. Devote to Massenet and then the tunnel for using it, but is the extra weight and the subsequent extra wear on brakes really worth it at a circuit like Monaco?

There is no "extra weight", the cars all weight the same, there's just less flexibility as to where they can distribute the weight.
The difference is that it's harder to set up the car for handling. It differs from team to team how much "lead" they can move around the car, doubt Kubica will be running KERS.

I can't see Kers being as useful as it was in previous races except maybe for the start of the race. I both love and hate the Monaco GP. You get all geared up by the pre race hype and 9 times out of 10 the race is more boring than the Spanish GP. I can't remember the last time we had a truly excellent race there that wasn't affected by rain.

I was thinking this myself i wonder if it will be any use? Their is breaking issues with using kers and its more difficult to get the car setup. I dont really see where it would be useful apart from the start.

KERS is very usefull on curcuis with long straits. In Monaco it will be the climd towards the casino and trough the tunnel, problem is the narrowness of monaco. So I don't see many people using it next weekend.

Good point re the weight. I forgot that the others had ballast but knew the KERS affected setup.

Is there scope for those cars with KERS to remove it for the race or is it an integral part of the mechanics?

I'd guess the difficulty varies between teams. It was already taken out of Kimi's car during a race weekend so it's not that difficult for Ferrari.
