Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Have you noticed a measurable difference in your commuting experience as the reccession has bit hard? Are the traditional hot spots now moving more freely?

    no difference at all,
    from athy to dublin,
only thing that makes a difference is when it rains it takes an extra 5 mins,
so 60 min instead of 55 min.

    motorbikes are great.

Haven't noticed less people cycling yet, if anything there are more on their bikes these days.

Maynooth to Finglas 20 to 30 minutes rather than 45 to 60.
    Road improvements help a lot.
    M50 Toll plaza gone
    M50 wider
    N4/M50 junction upgraded to freeflow
Newcastle road junction upgraded to flyover.
Recession taking trucks off the roads
Evenings still a bit slow but further improvements coming.

The train still takes 40 mins

After Christmas it was like a tap being turned off.

Commute to work now 15 mins instead of 20-30

Commute home now 20 instead of 30-40

Except on Fridays when it takes 40 mins to get home

The Newcastle Rd underpass has helped , but not as much as I expected becuase of the mess around the Spa Hotel... hopefully will be sorted.

Noticable absence of transit type vans TBH

No difference - train still takes 55 mins or 31 mins depending on the type of the train (Drogheda - Dublin) + 10 mins walk at both ends.

I have to drive into college one day a week after work. Dun Laoghaire to Griffith. Used to take over 50mins, now takes about 25... big big difference despite the N11 being torn up after Donnybrook!

Waterford to Kilkenny, various start times in the morning, and all are the same as before, if not worse.

City traffic in Waterford is still as bad as ever, just as many trucks slowing you down on the twisty N9 too. Sometimes I don't get into 5th gear, except on the straight stretch from Danesfort into Kilkenny!

If anything it's worse, since with the new M9 and M25 being built, there is a diversion at Grannagh that adds 5 minutes or so.

Expect things to be a lot better next year though, when the new roads open! :D

Bishop O donnell road in Galway is just as bad in the evenings as it ever was. In the mornings I'm before the rush so dont notice the difference.
