Altibox provides high speed internet (50 Mbits/sec up and down), 150 channels of TV - including HD, video on demand, IP telephone, security alarm monitoring, etc over fibre to the home.

If you dig your own fibre optic trench to the street (network termination point) they give you $400 equivalent off. This makes it much cheaper for them to run fibre all over the place, and some 80% of customers are opting to dig their own trench.

Altibox is owned by an electricity supply company (Lyse). When DSL broadband came out first, France offered self-service modem installation which has been copied in many countries. This is taking self service installation to the next step.

They have more fibre customers now than electricity customers!
