Since we are getting a few of the "what's coming up in this paper?" threads, here is a special thread for that very purpose:
    PREDICTING THE FUTURE.

Post your predictions here please! Experience as a clairvoyant helpful but not essential.

New threads on the topic will be merged into this one!

EDIT: There will be a few different subjects discussed here, so for the sake of clarity could people please post what subjects they're discussing in the title of their replies, thanks :)

Judging by the questions layout, you could cut down on certain things. Normally it':

    Irish
    Q1: A question on Stone Age/Bronze Age/Iron Age
Q2: Pre-Christian question (High crosses, metalwork, books etc)
Q4: A question on Georgian Architecture

    European:
    Normally
    1 Question on Romanesque/Gothic
    1 on Impression/Post Impression
maybe one on a Romanesque/Gothic artist. (hoping for Giotto!)

    Appreciation:
    1 question on Gallery/Exhibition
    1 question on an object.

Something like that. Speak to your teacher, go over past papers. :pac:

Mods: I advise you to create a sticky 'predicitons thread' as this is about the tenth one of these I've seen in the last week on here. Just clogging things up. Plus it would be handy if there was one thread you could go to.

    Mine - Terrible
    My School's Overall - Disgraceful
Rest of the country - Horrible...

As you can see i'm optimistic as feck... Wbu?

What Gloom has said is fairly spot on. I'd learn Michelangelo also as he's a good example of a Renaissance painter, sculptor and architect, (dont confuse a High Renaissance artist with and Early one eg Uccello). Have 2 examples of everything. So if you wanted to answer on The Impressionist Era, have two artists and two examples of each of their works- so you would know four Impressionist paintings in total. Really study the marking schemes, and how you would plan out the answer- do this yourself by doing a quick 'framework' of your answer and comparing it to the marking scheme. These should not take long and will serve you much better in quickly deciding what you need to say- you do not need to do loads of 'sample' essay answers for your studies. These marking schemes are available on www.examinations.ie. Learn off your key words for each section and the 'arty' words & how to use them; compositon, line, shape, perspective etc etc Use them with confidence and dont waffle.
    From someone who knows..........!!
Sorry, this turned into advice on exam technique- but thats where the points are :p
    good luck

if you look at past trends..2 biomes and 1 soil comes up, then the next year its 2 soils and 1 biomes etc.

last years was 2 biomes and 1 soils, so this year it looks like 2 soils and 1 biomes, so you have a good chance of that question coming up

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 643 ✭✭✭Swizz

    What soils did ye do?

  • Registered Users Posts: 214 ✭✭donfarrell

Hi, i was wondering weather someone could give us a guess on what will come up
    in section 2 Topics 3 & 5 and section 3 Topic 3.

    Any help appreciated, Thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,791 ✭✭✭electrogrimey

I dunno what sections are which...but I'll tell you what I've heard, these are from the institute, and the HTAI lecture in Trinity a while ago.

    Movements for Reform:
    Strike and Lockout
    GAA

    Sovereignty and Partition:
Economic Policies 1922-1939 (This should definitely come up)
    Treaty Negotations
    Cultural Identity I think...

    Dictatorship and Democracy:
Church-State relations in Germany and Italy (again, should be a definite)
A direct question on the Show Trials
    Italy's domestic policies (maybe(
    Nazis in WWII

  • Registered Users Posts: 56 ✭✭aleyra

    Strike and Lockout
    Unionist opppsition to HR
The role of Parnell in HR
    Signifigance of 1885/6 elections
    Problems faced by the GAA

Pursuit of sovreignty and impact of partition
Society and/or Economy under Cna G and/or Fianna Fail
    Treaty Negotiations
    Cultural developments
    Belfast Blitz

Thats a mixture of what ive heard from the institute and what hasnt come up in a while

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 643 ✭✭✭Swizz

    Isnt desert a soil?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,026 ✭✭✭Killaqueen!!!

Yeah aridisol is the type of soil found in deserts

I really hope they don't change the pattern in past exams...I mean the same sort of questions come up every year but they could mix it up this year :-/

    Landform development always came up

So did drawing Ireland (part A) and marking in regions (GDA and BMW)
