Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    title says it all.
Friend was asking me wondering. Quick google suggests 50mill for EPL (Inlcuding TV rights etc) and 140Mill for ECL (40 from Uefa, rest from TV rights and stuff)

I think you get around the £30m mark for winning the Champions League, it's definitely not 140 anyway, that would just be mental, tbh.

when liverpool won it in 2005, the numbers going around was £30m including tv, sponsers etc, i highly doubt it is 140m. prize money from the prem is £20m without sponsers, tv money etc...

Somebody quoted figures from an article here a few days ago for the worth of the winning the ECL, maybe its in that locked Champion's league final thread, but those figures suggested that the prize money from playing in the whole tournament and winning it, the TV money, the sponsership and then all the projected earnings from merchandising and further sponsorship etc. was worth ~£98 million. I'm sure taking everything into account like that could leave the EPL worth ~£40-£50 million on top of that

CL system of prize money is quite complicated. A lot depends on what country the team is from and how many other sides from that country competed in that year's CL too.

a study by one of the champions league sponsors (was it mastercard?) at the start of this season suggested between the prize money, TV money and subsequent sponsorship deals arising from the global exposure that the figure a club stands to accrue in additional revenue is greater than 100m.

As Zebra3 said the prize money system for the CL is quite complicated and accumulates through the different stages. When people talk about the winning team earning 100 or 140 million or whatever it can be a bit misleading - that's the money they earn (or can potentially earn) from their participation in the whole tournament rather than winning that one match that is the final.

For winning the competition a club will earn in the region of 2x million iirc - it's a lot less than many seem to believe anyway. On top of that there's a further payment from UEFA from a pool of money that's shared (by some complex & bizare formula no doubt) between all clubs that reach the group stages - this is the tv rights, etc.. money. Potentially the winning team could take as much from that as the overall prize money they earned from winning the competition. On top of that there's gate receipts for all the home games, extra merchandising to go with those games, huge marketing potential for the winning team, etc.. Obviously the marketing potential is an educated guess but that's all included in those figures of 100m or whatever.
