Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    or should I say what is this bird ??? I spotted him in the garden the other evening. I've never seen him before, he looks like a robin, but without the red breast . Maybe a young robin ??

    I'm fairly sure its juvinile wheatear. Young robins are completly brown with beige specs and moult straight into adult colouring. No stage in between.

    Excellent shot aswell, these are fairly shy birds

    +1 on wheatear. A female, but not this years crop - too soon I would say and I don't notice black centres on juvenile wing feathers my book talks about. These guys migrate here from Africa. They have a startling bright white patch on their rump. Elegant birds.

    Ye not an adult yet. I ringed two on saltees last september and they were adults.
