More drama in Lucan - Anybody know where exactly this happened?

Two men have been shot in Dublin after gardaí foiled an attempted raid on a cash-in-transit van in Lucan.

It is understood a gang of five were approached by armed gardaí and ordered to put down their weapons just after 12pm.

Shots were fired and two of the suspected raiders were injured, one of them seriously.

Three other men were arrested and are now being detained under the Offences Against the State Act.

This turned out to be a bit closer to home than I expected. Just got back from work and couldn't get into the house. Cordoned off. Turns out it was at Centra in Foxborough just up the road. Gardai everywhere.

this'll be interesting, they must have fired at the garda first...

Guys went out with guns to rob a security van.

One ends up dead, the other in hospital, hope this discourages others from similar action.

Well done to the guards for foiling it.

Hopefully this will make some of these people think twice about robbing security vans in future!

With the current economic climate i can see more of this happening. From my memory of the 80's these sort of raids were a regular occurance, seemed to slow down through the 90's and 00's when things were better.
