Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Inter have won the Seire a title after Milan lost to Udinese at the Stadio Friuli.

This is Inter's 4th tilte in a row. The first team since Torino in 1948/49 to achieve this. They now tie Milan on 17 Scudetti, joint 2nd behind Juventus(27) as Italy's most succesful side.

Jose Mourinho has won Serie A at the first time of asking, emulating his feat in the Premiership with Chelsea in 2004/05. It is the 5th league title he has won as manager: 2 Portuguese, 2 English and 1 Italian.

    Forza Nerazzurri.

The 2 teams above them were cheating, so its not as if they didn't deserve it.

    Thanks for that. Wikipedia, eh?

Did you read it? I quote

"the court ...... considered in all the cases not a real match-fixing but a mere violation of sport loyalty principles"

I don't have to, there were several Italian courts that decided this was the case.

It was the first one that came up on the search engine. Check the references if you don't trust something. ;)

Sort of a mini rant but this really grinds my gears when people seem to think that Inter are the sinned against and that they are scandal free.
The 2 teams above them were cheating, so its not as if they didn't deserve it.

2 teams above them cheating? It has since been proven that Juventus actively conspired against Milan in their title deciding game. Milan as a club had nothing to do with the influencing scandal and the reason they got off so lightly,ie just a small points deduction is because the only evidence relating to them was 1 call from someone who doesnt even work for them but rather is a host on match days. Unlike Juventus and Moggi who was acting on behalf of the club the Milan guy was a nobody and wouldnt of had the influence to "buy" the ref's in question

The wikipedia page also implicates Inter in another scandal as it was proven that Moratti was purchasing illegal wire taps on people and that the guy in question said they were involved in it to.
Telecom Italia interception scandal and Inter's Role

In September 2006 Italian football was shaken again by a new investigation. The head of the security department of Telecom Italia (Italy's biggest fixed network operator company) was arrested for having organised a trade of interceptions to public personalities' private calls. Internazionale was involved in the process from the beginning when Carlo Buora, Chief Operating Officer of Telecom Italia and vice-president of Inter, being the boss of Tavaroli, was accused of being involved. During questioning, Tavaroli admitted that the president of Inter (Massimo Moratti) was one of the customers of this trade, having requested interceptions of many football personalities among referees, footballers and officers[23][24].

Inter was involved only slightly in Calciopoli scandal though Paolo Bergamo (referee appointing official) claimed, during questioning, that all major teams have the same level of relations with him and, during public interviews, wondered why not all the relevant calls that he received from team managers went out during the investigation [25] claiming that other teams, including Inter, should have been punished too. [26]

Italian Football Federation (now under the lead of Luca Pancalli) has started a new enquiry about these charges. It is unlikely that Inter will be sanctioned since the supposed illegal facts ascribed to Inter are dated 2002 and in Italy, as per the Sporting Justice Code of FIGC, illegal facts ascribed to teams are invalidated by prescription after two seasons. It is true that, if the illegal facts will be proved, the responsible persons still risk sanctions since for single persons illegal facts are invalidated by prescription after four seasons: in this case it would be at the end of the 2006/07 season.
I don't have to, there were several Italian courts that decided this was the case.

Yes they did decide on that. However not all the clubs were cheating. Also the only reason why Inter have escaped punishment for their actions prior to the Calciopoli scandal is that they can only investigate sometihng a certain number of years after the event,(3 i thought but that bit says 2) and sufficient amount of time had passed from when the action took place and the evidence found.

Weren't inter also guilty of dodging tax in the 05-06 season? But it was after Juve were stripped of the title and milan were docked points, the italian FA weren't to embaressed to give the title to 4th position

Figo announced he'll retire at the end of the season. Legend.
Watched himself and the Portuguese squad train here for a few days in a pre Euro '96 warm up camp...he was absolutely mesmerising!

A lot of great players are retiring now whose whole careers I have witnessed...Keane and Zidane were two that really hit home...Figo now is another.
