1000 Recordings to Hear Before You Die...

    This is a book written by Tom Moon Detailing 1000 recordings - from as small as 1 song to 6 cd boxsets - to listen to.

    Just wondering if anyone else bought this book

    Found any hidden gems?
    shocked at any absentees or complete duds?

    Has anyone taken the title as a personal challenge?

    There are about a million of these things
    1000 Albums you must listen to before you die
    1000 Films you muse see before you die
    1000 Places you must visit before you die
    1000 books you must read before you die
    1000 things you must eat before you die
    1000 jacks you must have a dump in before you die
    etc

    While I have found reading some books on music in the past that have introduced me to great artists I otherwise wouldn't have known like "Rip it up and Start again" I don't like the whole nature of this book and the others like it.
    They seem to just be cobbled together so people can validate their taste in music or whatever by its inclusion in these lists and feel superior by the exclusion of certain items I cant believe they left out Viva Dead Ponies what amateurs etc.

    Well the author of this book took over 3 years to put it together
    It's over a wide variety of genres and not trying to be THE TOP 1000 album

    Did you even glance through it?
