I know exaclty what the rule is. I play soccer. And that was a great challenge. If no one is in control of the ball, as was the case, then that is perfectly legal. Infact it's a very satisfying tackle to make.

And you do not have to try and play the ball at all times, how many times do you see a defender shepard the ball out of play while holding off a player.

lordgoat that was a blatant peno,it wasnt a shoulder to shoulder, it was touch behind the shoulder which means its a peno

I'm sorry you have it wrong,
You can't play the man and not play the ball, you can stand your ground and shepard the ball out sure but you can't run into a player off the ball.
