    Hi

i have an EV Series Monitor (Gateway)

I am trying to extract the Cathode ray tube from it. I have removed a big circuit board from underneath the CRT and the screen

But i can see no way of opening the screen short of smashing it. But I want to know is there a smarter way of opening it up?

    Any ideas?

Its stuck in there tight. I seen Cathode Ray Tubes on You Tube and it looks like a tube. lol. sorry if i sound a bit ignorant there

this crt tube is attached to a mini - circuit board and then it is inserted into what can only be described as the "screen interior".

I dont know how to separate it. but if its one big molded piece like you say. I havent a clue as to how i could open in it.

The guy on you tube had some green electrons coming out one end of the crt and he was deflecting them with a magnet. I would like to try this myself. But cant get anywhere if i cant get the crt out. i dunno if its busted. it looks intact.

if i crack the screen open carefully. would that destroy the crt inside?

Here's a link from instructables on how to safely dismantle a monitor.

    http://www.instructables.com/id/How_to_safely_disassemble_a_CRT_monitor/

At a guess I'd saying cracking the screen would destroy the vacuum in the CRT rendering it inoperable.
