I think the fun starts about post 76 http://m.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=60255422&postcount=10

typical of Terry tbh. He mods After Hours like it's his personal plaything. If he doesn't like what you say, he takes his ball home.

I personally don't think the guy is fit to be a mod.

Fratton Fred; Moderator complaints and issues with bans etc. should be in the Help Desk forum dude. This forum is for general Boards.ie Feedback (ideas, suggestions etc.)

For what its worth, I think Terry is a great mod of AH. The current bunch of mods do an excellent job and it has to be handed to them considering it isn't an easy job. Just my opinion though.

Terry was voted mod of the year lst year, so I think a few people would disagree with you on that one (myself included). Terry and the rest of the AH mods do a fantastic job in my opinion, fair fukks to them

    Personal plaything?

    How dare you say that!

    I mean how dare you

Should have reported the post IMO.

They do a good job but who nominated the mods for mods of the year?

    The members? No.

    Kharn and friends? Yes.

Not a bad Eurovision comparable tbh.

    :pac:

All of the mods have a say in who is nominated, and whoever gets the most votes is put into the running and the users of the site are all able to vote for the winner. Terry won last year by a hefty margin iirc

I didn't realise it was a Mod only vote. It didn't come across that way.

I thought given the polls the members voted.

Regardles I am out of here incase a drunk Terry comes along to enlighten me.

Well I'm not drunk, nor am I Terry, but I'm always happy to explain the process behind the awards if people ask...

There are 225,000+ members of boards.ie (of which 70,000 are active [we define this as "log in at least once a week"]). Were I to poll them for nominations on the various awards, I simply could not possibly tabulate the results. So instead I take it to the 500+ moderators as I can get a handle on it more easily. Some people seem to think this is very unfair, I really don't know why. It's a pretty efficient solution, it takes into account the opinions of those who have a definite vested interest in the site (the mods - which isn't to say that all members of the site don't) and presents a "qualified" and reliable set of candidates.

In the past, we (Rope-Drink and I) invited the public to mail us nominations etc and it simply didn't work (one year we had about 30 submissions which hardly counts as a fair representation of the site's opinions). The current system makes it easy for the members to make their vote and so we get a much higher percentage of the active member-base contributing to the overall result.

I hope that's made things a little clearer.

As for AH - I don't read it. It's the dregs of boards.ie as far as I'm concerned and if it were up to me, that board would've been deleted 5 years ago :D However, it's because of the mods that it's still there. We cut that board a lot of slack and we cut it's mods an equal measure of lee-way.

FF - issues like this go in Help Desk.

I moved it here last night so that I can have a look at it today :)

Actually, I’ve had a chance to think about this.

Saying that Terry is not fit to be a Mod is no better than Terry mod’ing whilst pissed, so I withdraw that and apologise. Debate on this will only cause further animosity, which I want to avoid.

I would like Terry to review his actions and posts that I highlighted and I would appreciate his comments on it, I don’t think it is his finest hour tbh.

Thanks Buffy. Judging by the posts on here, you might want to get hold of Terry to try and tidy your board up a bit:)

    My twopenneth worth:

In my opinion, AH is an off the wall forum where it appears there are pretty much no "Sacred Cows". If someone wants to discuss something seriously then AH is obviously not the place to do it. Obviously there are certain things that are off limits by any stretch of the imagination, but surely the AH follows a kind of tabloid type discussion, whereas if you want to the more serious broadsheet type discussion, there are specialist fora for that purpose.

If a subject is too "Sensitive" for discussion on AH then it should be locked or moved rather than a mod dishing out bannings, infractions and telling people to STFU because he/she does not like what they say/had a few Polish beers and wants to fight the world.

I have PM'd Terry to discuss my particular banning, but it appears several others have the same issue so it may be worth discussing in a more open environment.

I've asked Terry to comment on this, I'm sure he will in due course :-)
