I have no experience but there was a program on in the past year or so about the lack of regulation of cosmetic clinics here. Doctors leaving the clinic before the patient even wakes up etc.

I feel the cosmetic surgery industry is relative new in Ireland. If it was me I would want a doctor who is experienced and maybe even specialises in nose jobs. I think someone like that might not exist in Ireland. Maybe I'm wrong.

I agree, I'm researching a nose job for myself and am on www.lookyourbestuk.com/forum in the Rhinoplasty section, there is great advice on there. The top surgeons in the UK are Bassim Matti, Ian Mackay and Julian Rowe-Jones. I'm considering Matti and Mackay.

There are some great success stories but some real horror ones too. One thing I know for sure is that I would not use a cosmetic company for my nose job. I defo want the best and I dont want to be paying twice, the second time for a revision (very common!).

Anyway, good luck with your research.

    Gosh
Is there noone in Ireland that specialises in rhinoplastic surgery?

  • Registered Users Posts: 207 ✭✭SuperTyper

Of course there are Irish surgeons who perform rhinos. I would seriously recommend you read http://www.lookyourbestuk.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=8 There are a few Irish girls on there who have had surgery and a few who are currently researching surgeons.

My brother got his nose done in a clinic in Clane. He had always been very self conscious about the bump on it. It looks great now though, not a sign of a bump and very natural looking. The surgeon did a great job on it. My brother has a lot more confidence in himself now.

On a sidenote, I think if something is really getting you down and interfering with your confidence and ultimately your quality of life, then by all means go for the change - just make sure you do your research and find a reputable place!

    Hi SprostonGreen
I found a directory with ENT specialists in it. Here is the link. It would be great if you could have a quick look and see if the specialist that did your procedure is in there. Thanks

Of course there are!Our health service is bad but not that bad!
If I was getting a nose job done then I would only go to an ENT surgeon who works in a public or private hospital.
I wouldnt touch advanced cosmetic surgery or any other of those places with a barge pole.

Saying all that I would never get a nose job. As mentioned earlier in this thread it is a very unecessary, invasive, dangerous procedure. You are breaking the bone of your nose, one of the only two instruments in your body you can breath through. I dont know about everyone else but breathing is pretty darn important in my life so I wouldnt want to do anything that would jepordise my ability to inhale oxygen.
Secondly, I like the way people have all different noses, big, small, hooked, button, crooked etc etc. Everyone who has rhinoplasty comes out with the same generic 'cute' nose which If we all had the world would be such a boring place.

Mr Colreavy - Berkely Road in Phibsboro, his the "head" ENT surgeon in Mater/Mater Private, he done my sinuses and to be quite frank was brilliant, not sure if he would do cosmetic surgery though. His not cheap either!

I had my rhinoplasty done here in Ireland and am very happy with the result. Wish I 'd had the courage to have it done sooner, I might have had some nice photos of me on big occasions instead of hiding every time I saw a camera! :D

    Hey LC,
If its something that bothers you, you should deffinitly go and visit a doctor that has experience in rhinoplasty.
I had a roman shaped nose and had my nose done 3yrs ago and it was the best thing i ever did, it was around 4,500 which is fairly expensive, but well worth it in my opionion!
    :)

Yeah. I dunno. I think Im gonna first try and lose weight Ive gained and then re-evaluate. Maybe if I lose weight off my cheeks or tone them up, my nose wont bother me so much ?
Damn weight. Terrified of botched nose jobs and all. But sure, Ill try and lose weight and if it still bothers me, I'll definately consider it cause it does annoy me :o

Did you get your nose done at Laderma? How did it go? I'm planning on going there myself in the next few months, sounds like the place to go.

I did my nose job surgery in Canada. It was around $6000 and $8000. I did it last year, so I am not remembering it in exact. Even though it costs more, it worth it. I am extremely happy with what I received from it.

I had my nose broken in a fight years ago. I went to the GP he eventually got me on a waiting list to get a rhinoplastly. Didnt cost me a red cent, really pleased with, although all they did was put it back into its origninal shape.

How do you get on done like that? Mine is banjacked having been broken and it's a big confidence knocker tbh.

I've done my nose couple of years ago in Dublin and I was totally satisfied. The clinic where I've done my nose is http://www.rhinoplastydublin.org but I'm not sure if they still have the same surgeon, because I heard him saying about moving to Sydney.
