    *leaves lurk mode temporarily*

Apparently one to watch this year. I'm completely obsessed with all the songs I've been able to find of hers. Electro-pop goodness :D

There's no YouTube video for this song but it's a must to check out if you like Guillotine:

^ Seriously, thanks for introducing me to her music! She's awesome!

    You're welcome! :D

If you run out of her solo songs, she used to play with a friend in Hella Cholla.

The songs on their Myspace are pretty good too, though not as good as the new stuff:

No I mean the sound; it's a mainstream sound! It's not like Dr. Octogon or stuff similar. Get me?

Plus the bass drum is mixed really poorly,
sounds like a pillow hitting the mic.

yeah i do , im a great believer that some stuff is mainstream sounding for good reasons , the likes of dr octagon or scroobius pip represent a bit of a change in the hip-hop scene as of late, its less guns bitches and bling and more about an expanded vocabulary and commenting on society/ current issues, but I have a liking for the older 'gangsta' stuff and Im impressed that Irish rap has come to a point where we can produce something of a similar style to 90s US 'gangsta' tracks.

depends on what speakers - computer speakers dont do it justice, the subwoofer in my truck makes it kick like a mad bastard

Another video I've been posting everywhere, these exams are helping me find so much great music :)/:(

The only other music I know well enough to compare it to is Sara Bareilles, I think this would be called piano-driven pop or something?

What I mean is, as a peripheral country surely we should embrace the fact that the mainstream ideas of money, bitches etc. don't suit us? We haven't an economic centre in our country, so, to say that we've climbed the economic ladder to the very heights, like the classic idea of the economic powerhouse that came from the ghetto popular in rap, is a bit ridiculous. Anyone with an understanding of rap would tell you that such ideas of rap masculinity: about asserting oneself in the system and being "the man" etc., are the whole point! Without that system the point is lost.

If anyone wants to see the merits of less mainstream sounding Irish rap, take the best case in point, The Rubberbandits. Who take the classic dynamic of Irish comedy (being aware of the small-ness of the Irish day-to-day reality and contrasting it with the largeness of popular global ideas/realities) and performs it within a rap sphere.

Edit: The BOY tune is something else!

Okay, looks like I can't stay away from this thread :o.

Don't think I've posted a video of my favourite band yet so I must make up for that now...

    Yeeeeeeeeeaaaahhhh.

I love me some glorious electro-pop.

That Class A's and Nugget track is awful imo. Absolute pits of irish hip hop.

MJEX are streets ahead of them in every way, beats, production and most importantly lyrics.

Magnetic Fields have a new album on the way. Here's the first single.

    ...and again :D.

I think one of my biggest musical regrets of 2011 is going to see MCR over these guys at Oxegen :(

I have so much love for them.

@ 2'20" Devil's Staircase eat your heart out!
Also Funky, where were the helicopters? :pac:

Did you here her little Bach Tocatta in D minor moment? Girl's got a gift for thematic improv. Her version of Clair de Lune is gorgeous.

Who needs helicopters with music like this? (^o^)
