Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Portsmouth were very poor against Blackburn last weekend, hard to know whether they are on the wind down with being safe.

At home tonight though you'd expect them to be a bit stronger.

Sbragia should have no problem motivating his team for this tonight, a win will keep them up, the fact Chelsea is their last game should really mean they come out all guns tonight.

Im expecting, and hoping for a Sunderland win

Unbelievable there, great work by Johnson to get the cross in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

    How close was that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,326 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Malbranque should have done better there, caught it with his shin, half a chance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Thought Sunderland should've scored there. Good save though.

Terrible again by Malbranque with a good bit of play by Sunderland, very very weak shot.

Begovic looked a bit uncomfortable there.

Pompey looking promising whenever they attack

*glares at Sunderland fans* How dare they?

This is a bloody snooze fest this match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

This match so far can be summarised as:

Long ball, give the ball away, long ball, clearance and random shot here and there.

    that goes for both teams.

Could have been from his Southampton days yeah,

But no prizes for guessing who instigated it :)

Certainly wasn't the Mackems anyway. :p

Sunderland really need a lot of shooting practice,

Richardson had a similar miss last week!

Is anyone else bored out of their brains with this game. That goalmouth scramble a few minutes in was the best so far, with the singing coming in second ( when the fans singing is the second best part of a match, you know it's a sh1te match)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,326 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

    Sunderland Socker**

    Jones wins a header,

Unlucky, similar to Pompeys best chance

Yep. Seems to be a case at Fratton Park

Then as I say that S'land hit the post and the ball rolls across the goal. Typical. Now I look like an idiot (and I know what's coming next, don't :D)

The stream I'm watching is doing a recap of Tony Yeboah's greatest goals for Leeds.

Great goal for Sunderland to put them 1 up,

great work by davenport down the right, and a fantastic ball to Jones at the back post, wasn't an easy one, but it was very well finished!

Staying up if it stays like this.

The ref could have a bit of explaining to do,

seems to have blown the whistle before the goal was scored, seemed to be giving a free out,

    then the goal stood,

i didn't see anyhting wrong with it, but it was strange all the same

It's matches like this that make a mockery of "the best league in the world" tag. Two really poor teams.

Which league is full of sexy football playing brilliant teams?

Everyone in the league doesnt have to be great for it to be the best league, they just have to be better than the others.

    2-1 to Portsmouth,

    what a mistake from Ferdinand

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

Shocking stuff from Ferdinand. Made a meal of a handy clearance.

What was the defender sliding in trying to do by stabbing the ball with his foot? Theres no way thats going anywhere but in.

Maybe the linesman let him know there was no foul so he let the goal stand.

As Poll pointed out, you cant blow the whistle and then keep playing. It was a shocking error on his part.

He couldn't have that quick to be honest,

I was half thinking it was an Audio/Video Sync problem at Setanta :D

3-1 Pompey. Jones missed a golden chance just before it.

So am i right in thinking if newcastle beat Villa next week, Sunderland could well go down? Definately dont see them getting even 1 point vs Chelsea!

    Jesus, fair play to Ricky.

Need both Hull and Newcastle wins to send them down....long odds

Nope. For Sunderland to get relegated, both Newcastle and Hull have to win. It's pretty unlikely although not impossible.

    Current odds on Betfair:

    To be Relegated:
    Middlesboro: 1.03
    Newcastle: 1.69
    Hull: 2.84
    Sunderland: 9.6
