Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nikon D3 issue

I was out shooting tonight, not in the best conditions in a rainy hillside forest and all of a sudden my images started to have black lines running through them. My first fear was water inside the camer but I'm too careful for that to happen (I hope!). It seemed to only happen at high ISO's (800 and above) but to be on the safe side I stopped shooting with it and used a backup D40 body. I initially thought it might be my LCD screen that was playing up. I got home took more test shots and again at high ISO's the lines running through the images were there. I updated from firmware 2.0 to 2.0.1 and it seemed to fix it right away with the same lens combinations/ISO/aperture. I couldn't really find anything about this on the net and I have had firmware 2.0 on my camera for a few months now with no problems. Just wondering if anyone else has heardof this happening or happened to them?
This image was at ISO 3200 which is no problem on the D3 at all whatsoever...normally.

AFAIK there was a known problem with banding when the on board noise reduction software was push hard

Have you or had you Long Exposure Noise Reduction set to high by any chance?

There was an issue but I thought the last firmware update 2.01 addressed that.

It seems fine now. Literally lookin gthru the files on ViewNX oine shot is finee and the foloowing shot moments later with the same expoure/settings has the banding issue. The new firmware seemed to solve the problem . I've been using the same settings regarding noise reduction etc. since I first got the camera and the noise reduction and high ISO reduction are both off.

I guess the firmware 2.0 bugs crept in for some reason tonight. It seems fine now so fingers crossed. I'll give the Nikon centre a call tomorrow anyway. I've been meaning to send it in for a service. It just sucks it happened on a job.

    Thanks for the replies guys!
