Just caught my bf **** to porn on the net while I'm sick in bed now is it just me or have i a right to be feeling really pissed off, hurt and upset?

Nothing to be upset. In the years, you will learn that as a nice gf you should ask him to save the semen so you can later have a deglutition.

I'd imagine the more pertinent question would be "a girl who admits to watching porn, does such a creature really exist?"

And yes, clearly she does :D;)

I'd rather see a hands up from girls who watch "their own" porn.

I don't actually look at their faces. They're just anonymous bodies.

As for my own porn, does nothing for me, but my boyfriend likes it.

And now for the unpopular view.

In my opinion, the sex industry is one that reduces the human person to a mere object of sexual gratification. Pornography is a foul industry that has destroyed many lives, male and female, and I would never do anything to support it. It only exists because of its demand and it is an addictive product. I would be surprised if anyone who has worked in the sex industry is left unscathed emotionally from the financial transactions made from the public and repeated use of their genitals. As such, I chose a partner (male) who shares these views. I have no doubt he gets tempted by pornography sometimes, but if porn were a part of his life, I would not be, and that's my reality.

To those of you who believe that 100% of men watch pornography, you are wrong. There are men who dislike it and what it represents, and actively fight the temptation to get sexually gratified in this way. I even know men who are working to get men and women out of the pornography industry and into other areas, providing education, counselling and support for them.

Sure, it gets you off. But it's a shadow of the true beauty of human sexuality and I want nothing to do with it.

Well first off, you're not wrong. But you have to look at why there is a demand in the first place. You can't simply gloss over it. Social constructs place restrictions on sexual activity yet the primal urges still exist and must be satisfied.

    Must every urge be satisfied?

Some people can repress them, some people can re focus their energies into other things. A lot cant.

With the exception of children, the mentally impaired and the emotionally ill, everyone can exercise self-control in any area of their life that they choose. You're not giving people enough credit.

    Why should they?

I already covered that ground in my initial post.
...the sex industry is one that reduces the human person to a mere object of sexual gratification. Pornography is a foul industry that has destroyed many lives, male and female...

    That's why.

Hmm, so. Its a terrible industry, no doubt about it. However, so are others.

Yeah, that's kinda the opinion I'm leaning towards as well. A career in modelling, or in the army, even in construction or the service industry... they all can involve exploitation and in some cases ruin lives as well.

I guess I'm wondering if the "it's exploitative" defence would apply if the sexual aspect of the industry was removed.

That's kinda the idea, and it's not a bad thing, you could say that about any job.

Does the software industry reduce the human person to mere outputters of computer code?
Does the building industry reduce the human person to mere constructors of buildings?

Just because someone works in a certain area doesn't mean there isn't more to their personality.

Humans are objects of sexual gratification, usually just for their partners, but if they choose to work in porn then for others too. It's just a job.

Do you oppose the actual idea of pornography or simply the industry and its bad reputation?

Everybody masturbates. Yes, even women. Why not try some mutual masturbation - to porn.

Who knows, you might even enjoy it? Plus it could ultimately make you OK with him watching it.
